From TOS, could be something, could be a troll, who knows, just found it interesting…

Zeigler wasn't gassed from playing 35 minutes, he was gassed from playing 40 and dealing with the virus running through the team. It has been mentioned many times how the guy plays 35 minutes and looks like he could play 35 more, he hardly ever gets tired. You’re likely talking about one of the favorites for the Cousy award, you aren’t cutting back his minutes to a damn near career low.I would argue that he’s having to play that much because we don’t trust many other guys to run the point at the moment. If we could limit him to 28-30 minutes a game it would make a huge difference for him. He was clearly gassed in the Purdue game. Also, you could do like they did with Chandler and play them both at the same time occasionally. You could definitely see him getting 12-15 minutes per game if not more.
That’s 5 starters who don’t shoot over 34% from 3, no thanks. You are absolutely correct. We have no other true pure point guard. The KC + ZZ look worked out for us and often had short 6'3" Vescovi out there as well. It worked for us. Only difference is that they both were freshmen & Malik Mack (soph) + ZZ (Sr) would have a ton more experience. Plus Mack got 1.3 steals a game as well so I could see it working. Would take ZZ down to 30 minutes a game, but really he averaged 31.6 minutes on the season in total. Throw in a I can guard all Mashack with them, a small ball 4 w Saint Lanier & one of our centers and that 2 point guard game would be smooth and work perfectly. I could see our pitch to Mack being that ZZ+KC year.
You can almost bracket them into 2 categories, 3/4 and then 4/5, ideally 1 of each would be nice.Seems based on your list they are targeting that exact position pretty hard. Thomas if ya want rebounding & defense, Tyson if ya want shooting, Dunbar if ya want a bit of everything, and BJ if ya want offense first.
I kinda hope they snag Dunbar (he’s now 6’8”) and BJ, but any of those 4 would be great additions.
I think we really need one. Thirty seven minutes a game draws a lot from a player as the year plays out. We need players at the end of the season who ave some gas in the tank. Fatigue also increases the possibility of injury and I think we need a talented back up at P. G.You'll be happy to know that I don't think we really need one. Hallelujah, right?
I think I’d rather have Tyson than that big. Thomas would fill the JJJ role at the 4 when we go small. We have lots of bigs already and I think JP could be a 4 when we go big. I’m thinking:Chaz Lanier
Saint Thomas
Myles Rice (PG with multiple years to play)
Another big guy with multiple years would be a dream
If Awaka leaves, then I officially hate the portal era.I don’t think anything is done, it was talked about in this thread yesterday, he’s a guy to watch. If Tennessee continues with more small ball how many minutes are there for for the 4 bigs this next year? I’m sure Awaka is looking at that and asking himself, and the staff, that same question.
I hope our NIL can step it up to retain him then. I really like his game and he just keeps getting better. Tough decisions on how to allocate limited funds to build a roster. It’s been hanging by a thread this week. He’s been in offered a much better NIL deal. The Pitino tampering thing is (not surprisingly) real. Hopefully we can weather it.
ZZ was tired and showed it in his shooting. Almost every shot , field and free throws, were short and hit the front of rim. This is the a telling reaction of being fatigued. A little more rest during the season would have likely have helped him later in the season and in the tournaments.Zeigler wasn't gassed from playing 35 minutes, he was gassed from playing 40 and dealing with the virus running through the team. Also, Mack isn’t going somewhere for 12-15mpg, and I definitely wouldn’t say that’s considered plenty of minutes.
