COVID extra year is only eligible to players who are playing (or in Katari's case, completed) their 4th year. So most of the experienced players will only have 1 year available . It's unlikely that any rising seniors will transfer for their final year since they will have exhausted their eligibility before they complete enough credits to graduate. So Kateri’s a graduate transfer. One year.
LOL! You might want to check Mulkey's roster the last two seasons and rethink that statement. The last 5 star HS recruit that left Tennessee was quite underwhelming.
Thought this would happen. She's way too good for that team.
Too bad we don't need yet another smallish guard.
We get to Monday so the under classmen can start getting in the portal. All Grad Transfers right now. Supposedly some really good players are going to move on from their current team. I wonder if we will lose anybody? I suspect that we could depending on who we go after.
Why rethink the statement? LSU had the top recruiting class coming in this year with the number 2 recruit and SEC freshman of the year and another all SEC freshman along with the transfers, thus setting up a nice foundation for the next few years.
LSU adds/buys a couple of highly ranked freshmen each year, but the core of their lineup was built out of the transfer portal. Without them, there would be no championships at LSU.
I don’t think there is any doubt we have some transfers. At least one anyway, at this point it’s to be expected.
Just really, really hope it’s not Wynn. I was really impressed with her improvements this season and think she has a ton of potential. Felt like she didn’t get as many opportunities as she should have especially with some shaky play from Powell toward the end of SEC play.
Miles wanted more playing time, and she got it at Kentucky. I really think that as a junior, she really wanted to be a starter and knew Powell was in front of her. Kentucky was close to home, and it just made sense. The portal giveth, but it also takes away.Yes..a player we could have really used this year!
Last year it didn't feel like a surprise that Miles was headed out given the effort bring in new point guards from the portal (Powell, Wells). And the year before I don't think anyone was surprised that Saunders left. Pissott leaving last year was definitely a surprise.I don’t think there is any doubt we have some transfers. No coaching change I don't see it either. Maybe if we go strong in the portal Ace might transfer and another player or two on the outside of playing time.Last year it didn't feel like a surprise that Miles was headed out given the effort bring in new point guards from the portal (Powell, Wells). I would be surprised if anyone from this roster transferred out, but you're right that at this point in the era of the portal, it seems that almost all teams lose at least a player or two every year.
I'm also anxious to hear about our players potentially using the COVID year: Spear, Key, and Darby.

Have to get stronger in post scoring and rebounding. Point guard is huge need a great one. Cooper can play there great handle and passer don't know how she would score. Both Tess and TK have previously stated they plan to use their COVID year.
Tess said so a couple seasons ago several times. She felt she really didn’t have a freshman season due to her issues with shin splints. Whether she finishes her eligibility here or elsewhere remains to be seen. I think she’s LV through and through so don’t expect her to leave, but her minutes definitely took a hit this season and there were times she didn’t look all too pleased with her new roll.
TK mentioned something about potentially starting work toward a doctorate I think. I would expect her to return next season but honestly don’t anticipate her being much more effective than she was late this season. If she can continue to be a defensive stopper in the paint that’s really all we need from her though.
Jewel I would expect to be back as well, don’t see her going anywhere and she has the opportunity to be the de facto go to player for us next season.

It will be interesting to see what our roster looks like come May 11th. Maybe we will see some big names in the portal. We need another Rickea Jackson actually a couple of them.I’m assuming Wells will take PG duties but she is going to need some help. Wynn should be the other PG imo, maybe even the starter with Wells coming off the bench until she is 100%. I expect to see Cooper playing more of the 2/3 with Spear. They’re both going to have to be in a position to score or we are cooked unless we pull another big time scorer from the portal. Putting Puckett/Strip at their more natural 4 spot and closing out the 5 with TK and Jill.
I don’t think we need anymore 4 players. We have had a logjam there for several seasons. For a post we really need a true 5 who WANTS to be a 5 with 2-3 years of remaining eligibility. Once TK is gone we lose our rim protector.
Otherwise I think we need a player who can sub Spear/Cooper that has handles and a 3 point shot.
Darby can shoot but she has no handles. She did start crashing the glass which earned her some more minutes toward the end of the season.
