I have to say, I would be extremely sad if either Kaiya Wynn or Edie Darby transferred, and both because I STRONGLY feel like a lifelong LV sisterhood will be much more joyful and fulfilling and fruitful, overall, than would be getting starter minutes ANYwhere else in the country.

The most recent transfer that absolutely broke my heart for that reason was Alexa Middleton. Born and raised in Tennessee and with a childhood dream of being a Lady Vol, that dream actually came true during Holly Warlick's tenure.

Unfortunately, that was a tough time to be a Lady Vol, and Middleton bolted to Iowa State to get more playing time. She got that playing time and did super well there.

BUT WAS IT WORTH IT? I mean, is she now super connected and always anxious to travel back to Iowa for every game she can, and every alumni event? Or does she quietly sometimes wish to herself she'd stuck it out at Tennessee so she could be among the proud alums who represented Tennessee so honorably and that fans forEVER adore them for it?

Kaiya Wynn and Edie Darby absolutely MUST stay. That's all.

Simply responding to a poster that implied that she left for reasons concerning basketball coaching. I didn't provide any details...

Yikes. Not that I am under any delusion that my opinion matters one iota to anyone but myself, but I'm kinda thinkin' the fanbase is inviting bad karma by badmouthing former players. We might ought to strongly consider taking the high ground and avoid discussing former players unless there is something positive to say.

I don't think we can afford to be catty and petty, karma-wise. If if ain't kind, and if it ain't necessary, consider simply not saying it at all. 🙏🏼

I'd be really surprised if either left. Unless they are being completely misrepresented, it's pretty clear that they both love being a part of this program. In Edie's case as a walk-on, she certainly didn't come counting on playing time. Everyone has choices and these ladies are no exception, but I'd guess that they aren't going anywhere, and with their positive vibes (and Kaiya's continued growth and athleticism), that's great for the Lady Vols.

As for replacing Rickea and the future glutton of forwards leaving...let the portal haul happen 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Defend Kellie at all cost, bash Holly as if she doesn’t have her number in the rafters.

I believe Middleton not only started for Iowa State but played quite well. She was not starting for Tennessee---should have been, probably--and the program was in a dysfunctional state. So, yes, she was smart to transfer. She wanted to play more/start, realize your potential and found a solid program where she could do that. If she regrets anything, it's probably that she didn't sign with a program like Iowa State to begin with.

Wynn is in a tricky spot. She is athletic, has improved her offensive game, has gotten noticeably better and still seems to have a lot of upside. She's only got one more year to realize her potential---and yet the guard position next year is going to be crowded and she doesn't know how much PT she'll get. You only get better by playing--and while I don't like to see anyone leave a Vol team, she is someone who would probably assure herself of more playing time or a starting role if she moved to a program like, well, Iowa State. I'm simply trying to look at it objectively and from her point of view. It's a hard decision.

I agree with you on Wynn. If she can get confident in her 3-point shot and get that percentage into the 30s, I hope she stays. If not, let's move on.

With regard to Middleton, who are you starting her over? Meme Jackson, no just no. Zaay Green? I don't remember if AM could handle PG duties, but maybe it could have worked.

Also, how in the heck was that 18-19 team so bad with Westbrook, Davis, and Jackson?

I will be crushed if anyone leaves. They all have so much to give the program. Good kids all.

Does Tennessee expect a lot of portal activity for this upcoming off season?
I would say expectations are that we will try to at least take 2 to 3 players could be more. We'll have 4 or 5 scholarships to give that being if none of the current players leave and all the seniors eligible to come back do so. I would say the main needs are post players and another top point guard. Of course the best offensive scorer we can find with Rickea off to the WNBA.

No offense to you but I always hate speculation about who will transfer. It is generally wrong and based on "How I would act as a player" assumptions. Wynn is improving and she has become more integral to the rotation this season. Why would she transfer? Same for Edie, she knew what she signed up for.

Unless Kellie were to get replaced after the season. I don't expect any transfers on the current squad. From my pov, the more relevant issue is whether Tess and Tamari take their 5th years. I think it might be crucial that TK decides to return.

The best Grad Transfer in the portal right now. She could be a very valuable player as she is able to hit the three at 38 percent and shoots 46 percent overall. She is 6'2" tall and rebounded at 7.2 a game. Even with just one year to play sure she will get a lot of attention.

The best Junior college center out there is Pania Davis 13.5 ppg and 10.3 rebounds shoots the three at 33.3 percent. She is 6'6" looks to have a game a lot like Kitley of Va Tech, Shoots the mid range shot around the basket very well. I would expect her to move up to a Power five team next season. she would have three years to play. Also had 87 blocks last season and 11 double doubles.

Who is our "top point guard" that we already have?

I guess that would be injured Destinee Wells. Wynn has been the main backup this year don't know how much she will progress by next season. She is athletic not very good offensively. I think if the coaches are wise they should be looking for another point guard the best one that is out there.

I think I only saw Wells play one time, maybe twice. She seemed very quick, but somewhat out of control. OTOH, the other guards seem too slow?
One thing about college BB: Things Change.

She started slow, at least with her scoring and shooting (she seemed quite nervous to me), but it seemed like she was starting to get a little more comfortable the last few games before her injury. For example, she shot 34% (and 9% from 3 and 75% on FTs) in her first 6 games, compared to 42% (and 25% from 3 and 89% on FTs) in the her last 4 games. Still nowhere near the shooting numbers she put up her final year at Belmont, but she was on a good trajectory. That final stretch included 13 points and 5 assists against Notre Dame and 11 points and 3 assists against Ohio State.

Are Berry and Boyd PGs or 2 guards?

Agree, but Cooper is listed as a point guard, what about her with Wells?

Also, if we have Tamari and Jillian on the team as posts, I hope that doesn’t scare off a new mobile portal post, who actually likes to play post.

It’s the perfect situation for a young post. Every other post on the roster is out of elig after next yr.

True, but we could could use help this coming year, and a graduate, or someone with less eligibility left, may want to be able to play immediately.
