I don’t think we offer her a spot. Unless well’s is not going to be able to go we are done at the guard spot. I think Dwyer was a backup plan. Bet she goes to St. John’s but could be wrong of course.

Think if we get one more it’s gonna be a big. Would love to see us go for Dauda or Vasconcelos.

Cooper will be a starter…still the most athletic player on the roster. She and Ruby are locks as starters. I’d say Latham and Jewel are also. After that it is a toss up between Spencer and Spearman, depending on if CKC wants to start bigger or not. This is a very deep team now.

At the pace I THINK COACH HAS ALLUDED TO ON BOTH ENDS, don’t think starting means as much as it has historically. With a deep talent balance she is not accustomed to, who knows what distribution of minutes will look like. Early fouls may not be an issue either and keeping the pressure turned up may be real from minute 1 day 1.

I’m thinking Barker comes to Tennessee… speaking it into existence. I think Spearman comes off the bench. And I think Cooper starts if we don’t get Barker.

That’s what I’ve said but 6’7” and can run the floor 3 years of eligibility, that’s a project you can take a risk on. Especially with the rest of your roster looking pretty tight.

6’7” and 5 fouls still can’t be taught either.

Here’s the minutes distribution from last years Marshall team. Careful, that top line only played in six games. So, seven over 18 minutes, four more over ten. That’s heavy distribution and a deep rotation.

Hoopgurlz highly ranked players Whitehorn number 15, Cooper number 16, Spearman number 30, Boyd 34, Hollingshead 37, Puckett 43. Latham proven player as a freshman and Spear great season last year for us. Spencer could be huge if she plays like she did as a freshman at Arkansas. I see all nine of them in the rotation with Wells, Strickland, Wynn, and Darby as other options to get in the rotation.

Nothing on film suggests Janiah Barker is a better player than Alyssa Latham or that she will make Tennessee a better team.

I’ll take Sara Puckett, Alyssa Latham, and possibly another young post in the 4 spot any day of the week before adding Barker. She does not fit Tennessee.

Strickland is a player I could see going either way. She could get more time if she buys in defensively and becomes a tough defensive stopper. That was a weak spot in her game last season imo, she brought a lot of energy but she was lost and out of position on defense and tended to give up open layups.

Darby, as I said earlier, is going to have to get fit or she’s going to have a hard time finding many minutes with the new roster. Her 3 ball and leadership will get her some minutes no matter what but I’m thinking more in the 10-12 minute range rather than what she’s used to.

Improved her FT % by 20% and FG % by 10% so she’s clearly not afraid of hard work. If she can add another 5 to each of those that would make her a 45/72 player which would be perfect for a transition heavy, dribble drive offense. She doesn’t need to shoot the 3 at all. We have 6 other players now who can shoot the 3.

Hey, if you wanna play, you’re gonna have to step up. She’s hinted a couple times that she wants everyone to stay hungry. Nobody’s got a guarantee, only thing she’s promising them right now is that if they buy in, stay hungry and work together, it’s gonna pay off.

And they do probably cut into those players minutes by 2-3 minutes a piece but mostly that would take players at the bottom of the rotation, whomever they may be, completely out of it most of the time. It’s not unlikely that we have a few players who do not enter every game and only play a few minutes in blowout wins.

Every time she goes in for a layup with any kind of contest she just throws it up or it gets blocked, she should focus on the mid range but she should have been working on that her freshman season, u just don’t get way better after 4 years in college, I know her game pretty well.
