2024 TRANSFER TRACKER

After all this hype I would expect at least a top 4. (A top 2 if I just read Rocky Top's post).
Without the hype, I would consider 5th in conference or better as OK-great.
6/7th would be ho hum.
8th or worse (unless there are key injuries) would make me concerned.

In other words, I'll let the regular season play out before I decide how good a hire this is.

Yep! At least I was confused over whether it was supposed to be a poll or a prediction. Anyway, just for me, I will be pretty disappointed if we are not top four at the worst.
Polls accuracy,,even the "real" experts can't even get close

We certainly gained more on defense than we lost through the portal which would seem to suggest we'll be a better team that last season. If everyone performed as well hopefully better than their last season. Also seems to be no loss on offense even with Rickea graduation.

Field Goals

Coming In 497 of 1079 for 46 percent. Going out 332 of 838 40 percent. Plus 165 field goals coming in and 46 percent from the field. We lost 40 percent from the field so plus 6 percent coming in.
Three point Field Goals 72 of 271 coming in and 62 of 203 going out. Coming in 27 percent from the three point line going out 31 percent so minus 4 percent from the three.
Free Throws coming in 241 of 355 for 68 percent and going out 214 of 280. 68 percent coming in and 76 percent going out. Minus 8 percent from the free throw line.

Overall scoring you have 1207 points coming in for a 1.12 scoring efficiency and going out 940 points going out for a 1.12 scoring efficiency. Overall it turns out to be a fairly even scoring exchange.

Rebounds

729 coming in and 384 going out for a plus 384 coming in. This is a huge positive and suggest this team will be a far stronger rebounding team that last season.

Turnovers 306 coming in and 200 going out so a minus 106 coming in.

Steals 144 coming in and 47 going out for a plus 97 coming in.

Assists 201 coming in and 206 going out for a minus five

Blocks 75 coming in and 24 going out for a plus 51

Overall looks like the team lost nothing on offense and gained strongly on defense. If we could score at the same pace as last season, but play 10 points better on defense you can see how this would relate to a few more wins.

Thanks for showing this. In the past you could almost automatically pencil in UConn, UT, Stanford, Notre Dame, Baylor in the top 5 or 6 spots. Now with parity and how teams react with so many transfers the preseason prediction/polls are somewhat fun but really worthless.

I am with you because I am tired of individuals trying to come up with reasons why CKC can’t be successful. First of all she hired good and experienced coaches. She also killed it in the portal. Now we need to sat back and see if she can pull it all together. As fans we need to show CKC that we have her back. We need to quit worryingw and let history prove itself. I believe that CKC has this so lets sat back and see what happens.
You don’t get it. CKC roster sucks compared to what it was gonna be…

We were No. 6 last year before we went undefeated and won the national championship. You might want to rethink that one....lol....We only lost Cardosa and added Dauda.....but 5 teams got better than us? Wow...I will even say it backwards...woW.
Dauda is going to have to work hard for her minutes….Watkins, Feagin, Kitts and now Edwards are primed already. I suspect Dauda will need to blend in for a season and take a bigger role next year.

When CKC coaches Tennessee to a top 4 finish in SEC in her first season with a somewhat of a rebuilt roster. Then a top 10 recruiting class will be in cards for Lady Vols in 2025.

Won't be a top 10 class because she isn't pursuing Top 10 talent from that class, at least not yet.

sorry folks, but get ready for some discouragement in that area of recruiting

This year's team can be as good or slightly better than last year and still finish a little lower than last year. The SEC is going to be so incredibly strong this year, alot of other teams got alot better and we added two very good teams. IMO a mid pack SEC finish still makes the tourney. If CKC finishes 6th or so in the SEC and makes the tourney it's a really strong start.
You don’t really get it, how do you or anyone else know what this roster is capable of until it hits the floor. I want to see it in action before I make judgement.
Great. You do you. But it's a fan forum. Some folks like to speculate, esp in the off season. Nothing wrong with that. Speculation doesn't 'let' or 'not let' anything with the real life program go forward.

Let me guess: Nyla's going to Miss St right?

No that's not the end of the world. But it is an unfortunate missed opportunity when we had an elite player to kick off CKC's high school recruiting in hand. Not really CKC's fault, just too bad things turned out the way they did.

You can't live by the portal, alone,,WinnersCircle

You have to win the HS recruiting race or at least be in the hunt
Right now we have only one top 40 recruit in the Hoopgurlz area,,,One.
You can ignore that,,,I can't
Agree. There may come a day when you can gamble and live by portal alone, but IMO not yet. It's exactly how our roster got in the mess CKC inherited.

CKC is apparently in the same position Kellie was in, going to have to do more with less in order to bring in the higher ranked hs recruits. It's a tough task, Kellie could never do it. Sure hope CKC and staff can.

agree
I do not wish her failure at all,,,quite the opposite!

But I know from my own runs in the elite of AAU/Exposure BB
You fill holes with your acquisitions, but you build your foundation with your long-term players

SC, LSU,
and TN itself proved this

People need to get off social media, message boards, and actually watch sports. These arguments are so irrelevant to the new staff it’s sad. Coach Caldwell situation is nothing like Coach Harper. First off all, Coach Caldwell, Coach Tubner, and Coach Lazo just recruited the best portal class in the SEC. I don’t need to wait for ESPNU or Twitter folks to give me a list. I’m going off production and experience of the players that CKC recruited that fit her system. Players that have had success on the P5 level in two of the toughest conferences.

People are so naive they talked about Marshall losing to Virginia Tech, but are too narrow minded to sit down and watch film of Alyssa Latham clutch shots against ND, NC State, UConn, and making clutch blocks against Alabama, Louisville, and UConn as just a freshman. I’ve seen veteran players quit in tough games after a quarter of play. Latham battled in the NCAA tourney against UConn and it was a battle. They made her earned it and she didn’t back down. Lazaria Spearman having big games against Duke, UNC, and Mississippi State. Ruby Whitehorn being one of the top two way players in WBB. Samara Spencer being a former SEC FOY and one of the most experienced players in the league.

CKC situation is nothing like CKH and she certainly doesn’t have to do more with less and will get more out of her players because they were recruited as fits to her system. Jewel Spear came back because she as player that has averaged double figures for four seasons stated the system fits her style of play.

The last four years injuries played a role but the game should’ve never been as hard it was for Tennessee. Every other night falling behind double digits to teams that you came from behind to defeat. That was a game management issue not a talent issue. That brand of basketball was not translating to the current style of basketball. And the former roster just didn’t have many players that complimented each other like this current roster.

And as I said about high school recruiting, the arguments being made right now are ridiculous when you look at the roster and the accolades of the players currently on this team. Whether they were sign via the portal or from high school the roster is as talented as any team they will play in the SEC.
