2024 TRANSFER TRACKER

Lazaria Spearman three finalists out of HS were Louisville, Miami, and South Carolina. Lazaria has the skill set to thrive in the SEC.

I told folks Tennessee would dominate the portal and this is the beginning.

Folks have their opinion about best rosters and top players etc.

With these first two signings UT has already tipped the scale. I’m watching film and it’s lit🍊! No reasons to go back and forth. UT WBB hired the top young coach in WBB and hired one of the most skilled staff of coaches in the country that has parents and players excited about being apart of the LV family.

I already welcome future potential Top 10 WNBA draft pick Alyssa Latham.

Welcome to Rocky Top Lazaria Spearman Former Top 100 2022 ESPN #30 prospect.
It’s scary hours on Rocky Top.

Yep, this is WC alright. Some content and a lot of BS hype.

It’s not bad news for Tennessee.
Coach Caldwell has options.
Does she or her staff have her options or the options and the visits set up by the previous staff who was doing all of Caldwell's work while she was on a press tour glorifying her hiring.

The two players we currently have weren't Caldwell's nor her coaches doing.

Nye was and she chose to stay where she was. So let's see how the portal play out as well as the recruiting with the new connections she and her team are establishing and not the connections coach Sam had.

Liatu King
Ruby Whitehorn
Darrione Rogers
Donovyn Hunter
Timea Gardner
Dazia Lawrence
No final four team this year, I’m finally at peace with it. So this year will just be to make the tournament, and get a top class in 2025 and top portal players to build a championship roster. If that doesn’t happen and we strike out it’s over for a while.

do any shoot remotely close to nye from three…
Yes Rogers is 39 percent, Gardner 41 percent, Lawrence 36 percent, Hunter 36 percent and they all do a lot more like play defense and rebound. Nye is an excellent player would be great to have her here, but there are options just as good and some do more overall with their game than she does. Whitehorn and King are not great three point shooters but they are great scorers shooting 50 percent from the field on two point attempts.

You really thought we were going to do enough to be considered a final four team? A better prospective would be a top 20 team in this first season for the new coach.

Probably shoot good enough to score more than 4 pts in two out of three games against Tennessee in two seasons.
you pinpointing what she did against tennessee is dumb. nye is a baller, and if she came here you’d be singing her praises. “BOOM TENNESSEE IS SMASHING IT. SHES ELITE”. you’re scripted and quite frankly annoying.

Huh? Who said Aaliyah Nye was an option? Fans? She entered the portal designated “no” contact. Coach Caldwell never indicated she was recruiting Nye. Coach Lazo never followed her on social media. Meaning if she reached out to Coach Caldwell she had to visit UT around Monday - Wednesday. Now I know UT just announced two signees that visit UT with Coach Caldwell and committed during their visit. That is elite recruiting.

Nobody ever said Aaliyah stepped foot on UT campus. But the two who did visit have already committed to Coach Caldwell. Any coach can set a visit and not receive a committment.
You should know that following the last two seasons.

King isn’t even a guard, Whithorn is not as efficient as Nye (also she is not experienced in the SEC), Roger’s again not as effective, Hunter (33% on threes and 60% on free throws), Gardner is not a guard, Lawrence ( a solid player but her game could not translate, we knew nyes would) so no IMO none are a better option then Nye.

I’m only seeing 31.3% from 3 for Lawerence and 33.3 for Hunter? Are the ESPN stats wrong?

You’re entitled to your opinion. We are entitled to ours.
There are other options.

It was possible if we got certain players through the portal. I go into seasons wanting a championship run, not just happy to have players and winning not meaning much. That’s how I judge things, so that’s not happene ing next season, so when most of these players are gone, Kim has a chance to build her own team, 2025 recruiting will tell the story, and. It just getting any players, we need elite and the best, if we end up settling I’ll know it’s not happening for us, even though people will be excited for any commitment.

King is a guard she is listed as a guard on the portal rosters and the Pitt roster. Whitehorn is not a three point shooter she is over 50 percent from the two and shot a higher percentage than Nye on all field goals. Hunter was a freshman huge potential and three years to play. Lawrence does it all her game would be awesome here. Gardner is a 2-3 that shoots the three as well as Nye. So everyone can have an opinion, but Whitehorn was ranked number 15 by Hoopgurlz in 2022 and Gardner was ranked number six in her Hoopgurlz class.

Yeah, I think a lot of people who pumped up the hire were maybe setting unrealistic expectations for her. Staying ranked most of the season would be considered progress.
For a first season yes. Not unrealistic to think higher after but takes a season to get her system and players familiar with it all that can effectively execute it.
Especially when your going to have every player starting out not familiar with it. That's just reality.

If you all can’t see the better skill and athleticism being added to the roster and a better system leading to the possibility of an SEC title and deep run in the NCAA tournament then good for you. If this team stays healthy and competes for four quarters they are already better than this past season and recent years.

The dose of reality is folks on here always predict devastation and destruction which never even comes close to the truth.

I’ll go out on a limb today and say next season team will win between 22-24 regular season games.

Nye is a big loss, tho of course we don't know she was ever ours to lose. But IMO we still need a proven, previously successfull scorer, esp fm 3 to go with Spear and Puckett. If there's a better one than second team all SEC Nye out there let's get them in here and go to work.

Top 20 would be a great achievement for the upcoming season, esp if we don't get more scoring in. And it was going to be that way this season no matter who the coach is/was. I just wish the AD hadn't pinned unrealistic goals on the new coach in her introductory presser.

The system is not a problem for players, people making a big deal about this. Anyone that’s played on different AAU teams have played this way already.

Read the board, again moving the goal post. You may not have but it's been said several times. And yes anyone can visit and not receive a commitment when the previous staff didn't have a $ figure they could throw out to the players visiting. The current staff can tell who ever is visiting now that they have (for example) $500k to offer them if they commit.

If Kellie had that same luxury, she might still be coaching here. Whether you or anyone else wants to believe it or not.
