2024 Vols will have the best d-line in the country....BY FAR

Age is not football experience nor is college experience the same as pro experience. Both had over 30 collegiate games so it's kinda moot to start looking for leverage there.

Maybe I'm missing something but wasn't Hooker in the NFL last year? Just because he didn't suit up doesn't mean he wasn't in the meeting rooms getting coached up. The only difference between him and Dobbs was the fact Dobbs went through the physical aspects of the rookie season (which were limited by the way since he was the 3rd string QB all year). Maybe you don't know this but 3rd string QBs don't get much practice reps during the season. So the only real difference between Dobbs and Hooker is the fact Dobbs played preseason in Year 1 while Hooker didn't. If Hooker is the superior talent as you claim then that shouldn't be much of an advantage.

Staw man. Nobody has said or even inferred what you're trying to run with here.

So did one comparative player avail themselves of opportunity the other wasn't afforded? Yes. And that's the end of it. Lions fans/media, who don't give a rat's rectum about making such comparisons, will always reference Hooker losing last season due to injury if not outright bringing up something akin to "roughly a rookie season" or "redshirt". I've used "rookie+". You don't get to "unhappen" any of that and create your own narrative 'cause it suits you.

The point of citing some of your many prior failures is to point out how you are absolutely, positively someone who is more than willing to get out over his skis and crash. You've done it a LOT. While hardly your worst example you're doing it again here. It's a bad take. Nobody accepted your premise. Nobody should have accepted your premise. Nobody is going to accept your premise. You trying to put your bad take on a respirator just makes you look stupid. It's easy...just stop.

So what Lions fans and media say is gospel? Did Hendon Hooker not participate in meeting last year or didn't he? Does the 3rd string QB get many reps during the regular season? I didn't create a strawman. I cited actual facts. And I'm glad you brought up the redshirt comparison. Is a redshirt freshman QB like Nico the same as a true freshman QB? Of course not. Sure the redshirt doesn't have much actual in-game action but he has an entire year with the team in meeting rooms, on the practice field, and in the weight room. It's why a number of redshirt freshman QBs have won heisman trophies but there isn't a single true freshman to have won the heisman yet.

I think we all expect Nico to be great this year despite being a redshirt freshman because of his superior talent. If Hooker is better than Dobbs as you say then surely he should be capable of performing at a level commiserate with sophomore Dobbs as a redshirt freshman. I know we all expect Nico to play as good as any sophomore QB this year as a redshirt freshman.

Damn it! Guess we’ll have to wait an entire season for it to be official. 😒

Sorry, no more running in circles regardless of how much amusement can be had at your expense. This is where we're at:

No no more ability to unhappen that than unhappening this Tsar bomb sized fail.

Tennessee and Georgia will be the rivalry that defines college football from 2019-2020. They'll be the the two best teams in college football.

Look for us to land a top 3 recruiting class in 2019 and the #1 recruiting class in 2020.

Jeremy Pruitt is just as good a coach and recruiter as Kirby Smart.

And just like that you prove you lost once again. I guess you didn't expect that redshirt analogy to be your downfall. Had to go back to trolling when you realized you have no way of defending points you brought up.

LOL. Have an answer for that and everyone knows you'll just run more circles. Still where you're at:

You brought up the redshirt analogy not me. So why run away from it? If Hooker is a redshirt freshman and Dobbs was a true sophomore in Year 2 then why shouldn't the talented redshirt freshman be expected to perform at the same level as the less talented true sophomore?

You think Nico has no chance to be great this season because he's a redshirt freshman?

Excellent...I see you've been goaded into fully investing yourself in this "redshirt" comparison. I said I have an answer and I wasn't kidding when I said the running in circles is over so here's deal...if I deconstruct this comparison you're foisting on us between Hooker's first year with the Lions and Nico's first year with the Vols you shut it down. You announce "Well, guess that was another bad take on my part." and walk away. No "yeah but" obsfuscations, no "whatabouts" pulled out your nethers, you walk away. You in?

I'm not the one who brought up this comparison. You did. And in response I asked a simple question. Which was: why shouldn't you expect a talented redshirt freshman to perform at the same level as a less talented true sophomore? I don't care to hear how you're gonna try and walk back your claim about last year being a redshirt season for Hooker. Just answer my simple question.

You heard the proposition, you in?

You heard the proposition, you in?

Why are you trying to change the subject? You brought up the point about last year being a redshirt season for Hooker. I didn't do that. All I asked was a simple question in response to this assertion: is it reasonable to expect a talented redshirt freshman to perform at the same level as a less talented true sophomore? Why are you trying to change the subject to something nobody asked? Scared of your own point?

Says the guy that won't say "yes" to "Are you in?". What could possibly demonstrate living by obfuscation more?

Why are you trying to argue AGAINST a point you brought up? I'm not the one who said last year was a redshirt season for Hooker. You did that. And after I called you out on that point now you want to argue why last year wasn't a redshirt year for Hooker? Make it make sense.

3 times invited to step up and walk through the door but apparently you can't even contemplate that if you got solidly rebutted you'd have to just swallow that jagged little pill and slink away. You live for the "just keep spinning". (with no shortage of examples cited in this very thread) It was asked if you wanted in on the deal, apparently not so now you're out. Telling you not to waste time with a reply as discourse is over is a courtesy...don't expect any others.

@butchna

Carlos Hathcock would be impressed with how well you center punched this description.

His own version of the rope-a-dope. Just keep iterating the gaslight points ad nauseum until they stop posting and call it a “victory”. Rinse, repeat, gargle and slather. 😏
I had, probably foolishly on my part really, thought this quieter period of his might have signaled some kind change. He might actually be worse. After this latest gleaning of information I'm not sure it's worth even engaging anymore, even for sport. Oh well, go Vols regardless and actually hope the D Line prediction can be added to small stack of things he's gotten right.

A solid rebuttal to a position you made? Huh?

Newsflash I'm not the one who brought up the idea that last year was a redshirt season for Hooker. You did that. And now you're inviting me to hear you make a rebuttal on why last year WASN'T a redshirt season for Hooker. LOL. How can you say I'm the one in here spinning in circles or playing rope and dope when it's you that brought up the redshirt comparison and its now you who is trying to argue against a redshirt comparison. Once again: make it make sense.

Is actually right for once?

He said earlier this was the best Dline in the country. And you know what I’m ready to say he’s right on this. No other team has the talent and depth that we rotate from game to game.

I would love to hear opinions and see if anyone has another team they think is on par with our Dline.

Defense is elite, but it’s still too early to claim it the best in CFB. Regardless, we can acknowledge and celebrate our defense without giving that dude props for something we all knew had a chance to be great.

Dline specifically. He said it was the best in the nation.
