If I was the Sparks I would have cleaned house and picked Rickea at 2 and Reese at 4, they would t have a good season and probably get a top 3 pick in next years draft and picked Kiki Irianfen, that would have been the perfect scenario. The Sparks could’ve had Reese had they kept the number eighth pick because Coach Reeves wouldn’t have drafted her at 7 because she wouldn’t have taken a chance on Reese because of perceived drama nor would she have made a trade out past 8 she only traded with Chicago because they were 8th and she knew she wasn’t drafting Reese
Not sure what happened there, Jordy ended up only playing 15 mins while Vivians played 23. JH had 5 pt (including a 3!) and 7 rebs, Vivians had 7 pts and 3 rebs. JH was coming off of a couple of her best games.FYI: Jordy is crashing the boards bigtime for the Storm right now as they play the Mystics. Seattle up by 10 -- nearing halftime.
I know +/- isn't the "end all, be all", but Victoria was a +3 and JH was a -4.Not sure what happened there, Jordy ended up only playing 15 mins while Vivians played 23. JH had 5 pt (including a 3!) and 7 rebs, Vivians had 7 pts and 3 rebs. JH was coming off of a couple of her best games.
W subbing is hard to figure out sometimes. The Storm did get their first win. Doesn't get easier for them though, they play the Liberty in NY tonight.
I don’t think the WNBA has changed in terms of percentage of lesbian players. I think society has finally realized, WHO CARES!??I had a good acquaintance, a struggling actress and bartender when I lived in LA. She had sugar daddies lined up like crows on a cornfield fence on any given weekend night. Not me, my then girlfriend and now wife was just as hot and would be with me when on a barstool watching a game or fight with the usual locals. To make a long story short, she often complained she avoided attending WNBA games because so many of the players then were so overtly and outwardly gay, flirting with women in the stands frequently. I think that may have laid a false impression early on that the WNBA was a predominantly a gay league of women. From a marketing standpoint that would make it harder to gain a national following. More recently two of the better female players in Clark and Reese coming with headlines both push their personal heterosexual preference in how they market themselves. Clark has multiple and varied stories out there in the media about her boyfriend. When have we seen that about a female collegiate player previously? Reese models and is known as the Bayou Barbie and herself had a story or two in the media about her boyfriend as well. Other players may be gay for all I know but they appear very feminine, take Rickea Jackson for example. As easy on the eyes as Reese but also a tremendous competitor. It may be the WNBA since it needs tv money to thrive and survive will recognize it’s a visual media finally. What does that mean? I think it could mean the WNBA will be pushing more players in the future who have an appearance and voice like that of Candace Parker rather than Brittney Griner even though both are gay. Clark and Reese both by virtue of little girls and their mothers purchasing their jerseys are voting with their $s the types of players they’re going to support in the WNBA.
The W had no problem promoting Sue Bird as the face of the league either. You could drop out the entire "gay" issue and just say the W wants to promote its more attractive stars, which makes it like every other industry in the entertainment business.I had a good acquaintance, a struggling actress and bartender when I lived in LA. Sue Bird presided over a league with a stagnant fan base and basically had to be subsidized to stay in business. The WNBA will fail if most of the league begins to appear and sound like Brittney Griner and less like Candace Parker. Both of those two are gay, one pushes it everyone's face by her mere appearance and conduct and the other has that aspect of her life as only one facet of a more well rounded person. TV is a visual media and the bulk of viewers like what they like. I was reminded recently during the 1960 election debates those who heard on radio Nixon and Kennedy go at each other most thought Nixon clearly won. Those who watched on tv clearly thought Kennedy carried it. One was more pleasant in appearance than the other and the rest is history. The W had no problem promoting Sue Bird as the face of the league either. Clark is actually a bit of an exception because she is the classic girl next door type, not a glam girl fashionista like Rickea or Angel.
Caitlin is a change your on flat tire kind of girl. The other 2 you mentioned calls AAA.The W had no problem promoting Sue Bird as the face of the league either. How many people on this planet lookand sound like Britney Griner?
