Lord knows I've always thought Reese was a real go-getter and results-producer. She is as tough and scrappy as they come, and I'm happy for her that even though she has some obvious (to me, anyway) personal shortcomings outside of the game, that she has found a way to be highly successful in sport. Good for her! I wish her continued success as I wish ALL young women success in this world!

But my goodness. Some folks have definitely gone off the deep end.

So far at least, I’m guessing Angel will get ROY with her consistent numbers, but Rickea is certainly having a respectable season and could easily come in second in the voting.

Both players have been great for their teams, but Reese has the edge at this point — and a HUGE edge in social media presence.

Kea carries herself a little differently. She’s not as naturally “hey, look at me!” as Angel is, and so she’s not quite as prominent on everybody’s radar as Reese.

But dang. If there were a competition for WNBA Runway Models, Rickea Jackson takes first place and it ain’t even CLOSE. She is stunning even without much cosmetics, but when she’s really trying to give off “I’m the hottest woman in the room” vibes, she succeeds. Every time. Just a stunning beauty.

Reese won’t win it, the media won’t give it to her no matter what. And Reese is not a “hey look at me” her and Rickea have different personalities and that’s ok.

Unless some crazy unexpected happens in the second half of the season, it will be CC in a runaway, Angel second and mad about it, and the rest a distant 3rd and on down.

Rickea didn't get a coach that is likely to let her have a ROY type season. They said about Miller from draft day he's a vet oriented coach who does not let rookies "play thru". It's not that he's bad for her in the long run, in fact she compared him to Vic in an interview just the other day and seems to really like him.

But just watch the last game. She started silky smooth, in rhythm, and knocking her fave shots down. So he took out and only sporadically put her back in the rest of the game. Leaast she's played in a long time. Postgame he gave some convuluted answer about her being back to having play to 4 as well as 3 again bc of Brink being out and he saw her overthinking that early in the game. So his answer is to bench her instead of play thru? Totally counterintuitive but that's what he does.

Today he'll play her alot, bc that's what he does too.

Ridiculous to us, but it's definitely what the ticket buyers and viewers want. You just can't argue with the numbers mostly CC but also Angel are pulling. And their games against ea other (another one tomorrow) set ratings records. I'm just not sure how long that will last, all seems like a sugar high to me.

Meanwhile AW and the Aces aren't exactly lacking for fans. They've sold out their arena for every home game the rest of the year, and AW is a lock for every award. But people just like conflict more.

Please. It's her freaking trademark. I don't think she needs defending from it, I think she's very proud of it. And at this point, it is pretty brave of her to keep putting herself out there so prominently all the time. She knows the price, but also the rewards.

Apparently Miller is a very good and respected coach, he had a great run with the Suns. But his philosophy on rookies is not in the universe w TSpoon's or the others.

I think he (and the organization) are little unsure what they are actually doing this season, building or tanking, and don't know how to do both at the same time. Now that Brink's gone, they can probably tank wo trying. It's very frustrating seeing RJ sit when she should be playing though. The press who cover the Sparks and the twitterverse are certainly all over him on her behalf, he's mentioned he hears it a couple of times.

No she doesn’t, shes just outspoken because that’s her personality. She can be who she is and others do be who they are. No reason to even bring her up when praising another player. I don’t bring up a player I don’t like when praising another player, what’s the point?

They should tank, I want them to get a top 2 pick. Draft Kiki and get rid of one player on that team and I’ll be able to root for the sparks.

LOL with those guards the tank is going to happen whether they try for it or not. I just wish they could develop players like Rickea and Rae while also tanking.

IMO great as KiKi is, they need a guard alot more. Paige would be fine.

Yes Paige would be better but I doubt they get the 1st pick. They get get a guard with their 2nd pick, make a trade or sign a free agent.

Disagree, CC and Angel are inextricably tied. When Angel chased CC around after the natty and fans love/hated it with a passion, the deal was done. People just love that perceived drama no matter how much the players themselves try to tamp it down. I do think some of it will die down maybe next season when the latest shiny thing comes along, or when people get tired of this soap opera and go back to ignoring the W.

Don't the bottom four teams go into a lottery for who gets first pick? The Sparks have as good a chance as any.

What other really good draftable guards are out there? If there aren't any, you're right, a trade might be good. They need guards!

Well I’m looking forward to it dying down, just let them play. Next year the media will be pushing Paige and that will help the drama die down.
