2024 WNBA Discussion Thread

I actually don't see a reason for the national anthem at a sporting event. Maybe special occasion like Veteran's Day or something, but I don't understand the relevance otherwise.

That said, the LVs usually manage to come up with some impressive performances of that difficult song.

Go speak with a veteran.

Oh Jesus Christ. No, I definitely would not. I don’t give a damn that she is black. I can’t stand Diana Taurasi for many of the same reason. Though she is a very skilled player obviously.

For me it’s the lack of class all around from Reese. Sore loser, bad winner, dirty player. Just not a good human. Sorry not sorry.
I wasn't talking about race. By everything else I mean everything. Suppose Angel quoted scripture oncourt and passed out cupcakes and juice boxes post game. What if her behavior was perfect and not a factor. Then you wouldn't be embarrassed by her lack of skills and awkwardness, you'd celebrate it. That was my point.

No dude, I would not. I’m sorry. I cannot celebrate someone who has a 3 inch vertical, can’t shoot, can’t pass, and can’t dribble.

She is a professional basketball player.

Yes. She brings something to the game and that’s obvious. She has an incredible motor and she is powerful in the post using her lower body strength to her advantage.

But she is embarrassingly lacking in terms of basketball skill. It’s just too ugly. With more eyes on women’s basketball it gives men way too much fuel to say “see, told you so.”

Ok point taken. Obviously my preference is also for a more visually pleasing style.

Perhaps not the most flattering pic to make the point. The Sid vibes are so strong.
This is for the resident hater, talking about no skill but she was able to do all of this and have a historic NCAA tournament that no player has had in about a quarter of a century. She also beat his hero in the Championship game while getting Most Outstanding player honors. This no skill player has won at every level, 3 high school. Championships and 1 national Championship, while his hero with all this skill has 0 high school championships and 0 national Championships. I’ll take the player that’s won at every level while playing with her off hand the last few years and with a rod in her leg.

Indiana turning season around. CC is adjusting took some time.

League is also adjusting to her and not just hammering her everytime she touches the ball. They have definitely relaxed. Idk what everyone was trying to prove with that, but it was dumb.

Tonight has been one of the cleaner, better officiated games actually.

true it sometimes seems more of a formality than an act of reverence. But when I hear it in person, I think back to when I wore a US Army uniform and it stirs something in me when I hear that announcer say "And veterans may render a salute"....We have so few honoring traditions left for our next generation in today's politically correct world that I am in hope this one is not eliminated

I actually like America the Beautiful better. There are also some beautiful patriotic poems that could be read. Maybe mixing things up would get folk’s attention more.

Don’t be ridiculous.

Reese is shooting under 40% from around the rim. Drops to below 20% from beyond 4’. That is disgustingly bad. You can’t just hammer the ball off the glass and rebound your own misses then run your mouth like you did something lol. She sets the sport back.

That’s why Twitter is lighting her up. It’s flipping embarrassing. She’s a professional athlete and double dribble twice (at least) in one possession with no call.

On top of her “special whistle” (which was about Boston and not Clark imo) comment the other day she was bound to get flamed. She walks right into it everytime and then cries. It’s really immature.
Dude, get a grip. She is a rookie WNBA player, not the anti-christ. She is averaging 12 pts and almost 11 rebounds per game, plus and 1.9 steals per game. Those numbers are solid. Yeah, her 38.6% shooting needs improvement but you know what Caitlin Clark is shooting from 2 pt range? -- Tada, 39% and 33% from beyond the arc) So, both players are struggling with their shots.

And Reese certainly got away with one on her double-dribble drive but some of Clark's "step-back" threes have more total steps than a performance of Swan Lake. [It is just not the W, in the NBA traveling is now legalized as the "Euro step"]

you and another posters hatred for AR is weird. You two are making it your life goal to spin everything positive about her into bs. It’s got to be exhausting. Grow up some.

You understand some people are basketballs fans.

As in fans (fanatics)

Piss off. Lol

Ah the Angel mythology grows, Been hearing the legend of the leg rod the last few days. Never heard it before. It would explain a lot about that granny running style tho.

She does that on her own. I feel the exact same about Diana Taurasi.

Who is nowhere on the list for ALL-STAR voting lmao.

GOAT? laughable. Selfish narcissistic. She too runs her mouth but is now too old to back it up.

Jasmine Carson, Last Tear Poa and Kateri Poole along with Coach Mulkey won the National title. Get real.

Do you even know what or where a jones fracture is? I’ve heard this one already. People acting like she has a rod in her femur. 🤦🏼‍♂️

How many Championships have LSU women’s basketball team won before Reese arrived in Baton Rouge? And this historic run is why they won the Championship

Fever are really looking good. Improving every game, their offensive flow has been excellent the last couple games. Sides finally figuring it out a little too.

I’m just so glad to see crowds like this for women’s sports. Especially at a time where women’s athletics are being threatened.
