Literally everyone except the Mavs organization and Kendrick Perkins has some variation of the same opinion....

Kings showed why they are a poverty franchise

They took on arguably the worst contract in the league. They got 3 firsts, one of them is Charlotte's lottery protected one this year. So for Fox, they took on a horrible deal, they get a late Spurs pick in 2027 and a pick in 2031...

The Kings are a joke

Interesting Luka stat I saw, two years ago Luka was averaging over 10.5 FT’s per game. This year he is down to 6.6.

It's not what you would expect, but these 3 guys are within 2 years of each other in age. If Sasser were 4 or 5 years younger than Sexton, it'd be easier to pull off.

You would be getting arguably the 2 best players in the trade, so that makes me doubtful you would pull it off. I do like Sasser but I've never really heard anybody talk about him, so I doubt the league values him that much. I could see this trade going off, but Ainge is likely the sticking point.

I blame Luka for the Porzingis thing. Luka + KP didn't work. Luka didn't like KP to set up in his favorite spots, so KP was just hanging around corner 3 mostly. He was also injury prone. The basketball public thought KP was a joke in Dallas.

And Luka's partially to blame for the Brunson thing. Luka kept the ball out of his hands. Brunson was a good 6th man. People thought he'd be a legit PG. Nobody saw this coming. The only time we got a taste of who Brunson really was happened in the Jazz series after the Mavs failed to extend him, and then the next summer was too late for Brunson, who wisely decided he didn't want to play with Luka. The FO still deserves the bulk of the blame, but I think this is part of the Luka experience that they were tired of. No matter what they want to do, their identity is Luka.

I hope Luka gets in shape and shuts the damn mouths of all the naysayers and makes Mavs front office look like fools.

Is the elephant in the room in this Luka deal the Adelsons? They bought a majority stake, have an eye more for the real estate/casino/gambling side of the business, don't have the emotional ties to Luka as a face of their franchise, and are trying to keep their costs down?

Even then, it still makes zero sense to not try and maximize the value of your asset. Who pitches any one of your players, much less a top 3-4 player in the league, to only a single team?
