I don’t think it’s that simple as it likely wouldn’t just be Ole Miss and TN at 11-7. Maybe we own enough of the tiebreakers vs the other teams that he’s expecting it would just be us and OM but it could be if Mizzou loses at home to UK and A&M loses at LSU.TN loss versus USCjr and an Ole Miss win at FL knocks TN to #5.
The 1 seed ship has sailed, barring a UF slip up to Ole Miss. Florida is going to finish 2 games better than us in the regular season. I don’t see the potential SEC tourney matchup making a difference but it would be cool to see it happen so we know for sure. Florida is a solidly the last 1 as of today.Anyone that thinks vols lose to South Carolina or Auburn is losing on senior day is crazy. We will be the 3 seed and likely playing Florida for the 1 seed. If they take off again like last year then they never deserved a 1 seed.
8 teams (#9 - #16) play in the opening round, 1-8 get a bye.
4 teams (#1- #4) get the double bye.
===========================
As of 3/6/2025:
1. Auburn (15-2)
2. Florida (13-4)
3. Alabama (12-5)
4. Tennessee (11-6)
5. Ole Miss (10-7)
6. Missouri (10-7)
7. Texas A&M (10-7)
8. Kentucky (9-8)
9. Mississippi State (8-9)
10. Vanderbilt (8-9)
11. Arkansas (7-10)
12. Georgia (7-10)
13. Texas (6-11)
14. Oklahoma (5-12)
15. LSU (3-14)
16. South Carolina (2-15)

SEC Basketball Tournament 2025 bracket based on standings if regular season ended today
The SEC Basketball Tournament begins in March in Nashville. Here's the full bracket if the SEC Tournament started today.www.tennessean.com
Disagree. The committee loves a layup. If Tennessee beats Florida in Nashville, that’s two out of three. It’s also the final impression. They can easily point to that as their justification between two teams competing for the last spot. The 1 seed ship has sailed, barring a UF slip up to Ole Miss. I get you but don’t agree of course. They’re likely finishing 2 games better than us overall and in the SEC. I believe that will outweigh any potential win over them in the SEC tourney. Plus, they have 2 road wins better than any of ours.Disagree. The committee loves a layup. If Tennessee beats Florida in Nashville, that’s two out of three. It’s also the final impression. They were already a game ahead of us (record-wise) coming into last night, but Tennessee was ahead of them on the seed line. In fact, Tennessee was ahead of them in the projections, even before beating Alabama. So their “lead” is very slight. Other factors are obviously at play. If 1 loss on the road to OM drops us below them, then surely a win over them puts us back ahead of them.I get you but don’t agree of course. 2024 tie breakers (assume adding Texas and OK doesn’t alter the procedure):
Two-Team Tie
The following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken:
1. Won-lost results of head-to-head competition between the two teams.
2. Won-lost record of the two teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceeding through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).
3. Coin flip by the Commissioner.
Three-Team Tie (or more)
When three or more teams are tied, the following procedure will be used in the following order until the tie is broken. If two teams re- main tied after a tiebreaker provision, the two-team tiebreaker formula will be used.
1. Best winning percentage of games played among the tied teams (Example: Team A is 3-1, Team B is 2-2 and Team C is 1-3 - Team A would be seeded highest, Team B second-highest and Team C lowest of the three).
2. Best winning percentage of the tied teams versus the No. 1 seed (and proceed- ing through the No. 14 seed, if necessary).
3. If two teams remain, coin flip by the Commissioner.
4. If three or more teams remain, draw by the Commissioner.
If Tennessee is the 3-seed, it’s very likely that Kentucky will be the 6-seed if they beat Missouri this weekend. So, could get an unfavorable matchup in our first game. I’m sure many of our fans would want that matchup, but I don’t. We just aren’t a good fit for playing against them this year.
