2025 SEC Tournament

Yeah I agree. I believe since there is a tight race for a 1 seed between Florida Tennessee and now Alabubba, I think us winning the SEC with a win over Auburn and Florida (series determining) would boost us.

I know in years past the tourney hasn’t mattered but with how tight and how good the league is, I could see the tourney mattering if the top 4 make it the semi’s
The championship game is played after they’ve already decided the seeds. Getting there would help, but winning it doesn’t affect anything.

I don't agree. Never has a league had basically all but 1 or 2 teams qualify as Q1 wins for beating them..... If a final 1 seed is down to Florida Alabubba and Tennessee, it could literally come down to who goes furthest in the tourney. Especially since there is no real separation between the 3

Lunardi said the same thing on ESPN late last night. Said those three teams are 4-6 on the S-Curve in whatever order you want to put them, and it may come down to who advances furthest in the SECT.

I like where we landed in the bracket.

Game 1 against A&M, Vandy, or Texas (I'm predicting we play A&M) if we win then Game 2 is against Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, or South Carolina (predicting we'd see Auburn) If we win that then we're in the championship game and playing Florida, Bama or Kentucky most likely...

If we end up winning the SECT would that be enough to push us into the 1 seed debate ahead of Florida is the real question. Lunardi seems to think Sat/Sun games won't have an impact on seeding, but this might be the first year where who wins SECT has a big impact.

4 seed is a great spot to be in. We dodge UF and Kentucky which is huge unless it's the championship game. I like our chances against Auburn. Regardless we will be a 2 seed in the NCAA.

I think that is normally the case.
However, in this years case with 3 teams from the same conference all bunched together, I think they would have the fourth number one seed bracketed as saying the SECT winner and the first number 2 seed bracketed as the SECT runner up (assuming the title game is the Vols vs the Bama/UF semifinal game winner).

They can have the sequencing decided EARLY and shuffle the names if they all 3 get to the semis. No late deliberation required. Quick graphic update and pull the trigger. But not sure it will get there.

That’s what I’m thinking. Barn has a #1 seed, but if FL, Bama, or TN wins the SECT and a 2nd #1 does not go to the championship then the committee will look very foolish.

It's not an opinion. The Sunday championship game is played after the committee has made its decisions. That's been made well known. You can't disagree with facts.

They can make their decisions with multiple scenarios. What happens when the champion isn’t rewarded is predetermined to not be elevated in either outcome.

And I heard on ESPN this morning some saying Florida vs Duke in the NCAA finals.

To be honest I've only seen Florida twice this season. Are they that good?
I’ve watched them some. What impressed me the most was how they took control in Tuscaloosa last week and manhandled Alabama. They seemed to have the athleticism of an NBA team at times. I will say I’m not sold on Todd Golden, but they seem to be really really good in spite of him.

They repeated this year that they will build contingencies for championship games, if necessary. Everyone knows there’s a hair separation of 4/5/6. If two contenders are vying for the championship, I think they might build such a contingency.

Will they retroactively swap us with KY in the 2021 tournament?

Then why is selections done after all the conference tourneys are over? Ignorance is bliss.
That’s when they’re announced. That’s not the same as when the decisions are made and the bracket is set.

It’s been stated many times by committee chairs over the years that the bracket is set before the SEC championship is over so it’s not considered.

Yet the selections are made final and public after all the games are played.
