Tennessee hosted five-star forward
Nate Ament, On3’s No. 3 ranked player in the Class of 2025, and his family on his official visit this past weekend.
The vibe that we’ve gotten in talking with some people this week is that the visit couldn’t have gone better.
Culturally, Ament and his family are viewed as a great fit for the Tennessee program. That’s a big deal, as this place definitely isn’t for every young player out there, but the feel we’ve gotten is that all parties really clicked this weekend.
Ament has also taken official visits to Texas and Louisville this fall. He has a visit set to Kansas State for January. Duke has also been heavily in the mix and Ament has made a couple of unofficial visits to Durham.
Programs like Kansas, Arkansas and Notre Dame are also pushing to be involved.
This involves some speculation on our part to be sure, but at this time it feels like Tennessee and Duke have sort of separated themselves from the pack.
Now, with this level of recruit, things can obviously change, and even more so given the fact that Ament is months away from making a decision. Nevertheless, at this time Tennessee has positioned itself well to be in the thick of it with one of the top prospects in this class.
Tennessee also remains heavily involved with two other five-stars,
Caleb Wilson (No. 4 overall) and
Chris Cenac (No. 7 overall).
Like Ament, both Cenac and Wilson have made some noise about signing late. Ament is locked into that approach and has been for a long time. It’s a newer wrinkle for the other two and it wouldn’t be a surprise if one, or both actually ended up signing in November.
Tennessee has doen a very nice job with Cenac and Wilson, but again, at this level of recruitment and with NIL involved, there are a lot of twists and turns to go before a decision time.
Tennessee is in a great spot with
Amari Evans who will announce on Nov. 1.
It feels like it’s the Vols or UNC for four-star point guard
Isaiah Denis who will announce on Nov. 2.
