I had a feeling we might not be as in that recruitment as we'd hoped. Then the return visit got my hopes up. Now it seems like maybe it was false hope.Latest from Trilly on Denis:
"Most of the conversations re: Isaiah Denis have been centered around Wake and Ohio State today. I don’t think anyone will be told anything definitive until tomorrow."
Is Trilly out of the loop on Wake, UNC, Ohio State, etc, though? I think when it comes to recruiting, information is available from many other sources than just Tennessee. Team specific stuff, I would agree, Trilly may not be quite so in the loop, but unless Denis is purposely misleading everyone else, things don't seem to be trending toward the good guys based on information that may not be coming from the Tennessee side at all. This is your monthly reminder that when it comes to Tennessee, Trilly is very inaccurate and out of the loop…not saying we are getting Denis, but it wouldn’t be surprising for Trilly not to know.
At various times he said other teams led for Lanier, Milicic, Okpara, Knecht and Ledlum…you can word it however, but because Tennessee and Spyre don’t talk to him he often takes that quietness to indicate they aren’t in it as deep as other teams, where as those schools or schools collectives communicate that they’re still talking to said recruit or feel like they’re in it to then mean that they are ahead of Tennessee. Is Trilly out of the loop on Wake, UNC, Ohio State, etc, though? I hope he's wrong again.
Again, I’m not saying in this instance it means that with Denis, but he’s at various points thought Tennessee trailed or wasn’t getting multiple guys and was wrong on each.
I love Mallory and was surprised when we backed off“Although Denis appeared to be a Tar Heel lean in recent months, reports this week indicate that fourth-year UNC head coach Hubert Davis and his staff may no longer be in full pursuit of the elite bucket-getter.
On Wednesday evening, HS Top Recruits reported that "Wake Forest is making significant movement with Denis." Plus, two of the insider account's sources noted that "they believe UNC has backed off a bit" in the in-state sweepstakes.”
Go get Mallory. We’ve already contacted him again, so it makes sense that we may have moved on from Denis
If it’s the wildest recruitment I doubt it’ll be us, our staff nor Spyre like playing that game.Trilly’s Denis source sent him a message last night that it’s the “wildest recruitment I’ve been a part of in 20 years”. So yeah, definitely could be a case where nobody really knows
He also mentioned its the messiest high school recruiting cycle he’s ever seen
