I will trust the coaches and players to decide who they want to go into battle with and will choose not to condemn someone’s decisions without all the facts.

I dunno. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate what he did here, but he is a distant second to ZZ. It's not close. What will improve that is if he sends high level publicity here the same way Manning does. If he just goes about his NBA business... nah.. Not really a VFL in my opinion

And ALL those guys are ballers. Matthews likely starts outside next year, and Staley will split time in the slot. Hope Leacock stays, he was a top 200 player out of HS with great tape...and fits the mold that CJH/Pope like for outside WRs at ~6ft4in.

We will almost certainly add a proven portal WR also, maybe 2. Just like Tillman, Bru, Thornton, Brazzell etc etc.

It sucks that Matthews and Smith are jumping ship before the playoffs. Selfish IMO...they both play, now. Matthews is CB4, Smith is LB4 and half of our 3rd down package LB group. Both these guys play meaningful minutes and will have to be replaced for the playoffs. They could have waited, the portal opens again long before next season. Oh well.

And half of those newcomers will be gone after one year. Everybody chasing a paycheck, no team anymore, just a collection of hired guns. Sad.

This is the new reality. We can no longer even care about recruiting rankings because "it's not who you go to prom with. It's who you leave with." Having an army of 5 star players in your #1 recruiting class means nothing if the majority of them have transferred in 2 years after you've put some time into developing them. A #20 recruiting class means nothing if you pick up those 5 and 4 star players in the portal 2 years later ready to walk on the field and play today. I would dare say that portal recruiting is actually a bigger deal than high school because you're recruiting proven players in transfers for a lot of them.
