'22 SC SF Julian Phillips (Tennessee commit)

JP is the best either hand shooter (not counting PGs) that I have seen in a long time.
I think he has to be developed at the 3, I do not see him playing PF. Could he play there some, of course. But I do not see the physique for that position as a freshman.
He will absolutely not get the number of minutes KC got as a freshman. (There are a lot more bodies with experience at his position!!!)
He did not shoot a bunch from 3, so it will be interesting to see how confident and accurate his stroke is as a 3 point shooter at the P5 level.
He does look good in traffic and finishing at the rim, but that is at a HS level.
His minutes (at TN, if he comes here) will be determined by his work ethic and defensive ability - not his offensive capability.
Assuming no injuries, and everybody comes back .... anything above 8 ppg is gravy.
I mostly agree with your assessment, although, to the bolded, I don't think it's fair to dismiss his ability to any degree simply because it was at the high school level, especially this past year. His Link Year Prep team has multiple high-major players and they played a national schedule that pitted him against some of the best players in the country. No, it wasn't SEC competition night in and night out, but it wasn't your run of the mill high school experience, either. He's been tested.

I mean, this just sounds like no one knows where he’s going and he’s slowly weighing all his options after being burned by LSU. It’s only a circus to those who click on every click bait article full of speculation with maybe one line of actual news. I really don’t understand why people are turning this into some huge circus, it really isn’t.

I’m amazed Barnes has had the patience for this recruitment. Tells me Julian is a special talent in Barnes’ eye cause I feel like Barnes isn’t the type to put up with such a circus recruitment for just anyone

Not much left for Barnes to get this cycle.

Anybody that hitched their wagon to LSU is not very bright or was misled by their handlers. Wade Wilson was on borrowed time with the NCAA no matter how much cash he threw their way.

That doesn’t make the kid the source of any of this circus though. It’s not like he’s giving a ton of conflicting interviews to stir things up.

Does anyone else find it odd that he may choose to play for Barnes after initially choosing to play for Will Wade? Are there two coaches that are more opposite in personality? I know NIL $ is a huge factor in a kid’s decision, but so is the coach he will be playing for. If Wade was his cup of tea the first go-round, Pearl may be more of what he’s looking for. Perhaps I’m overthinking it.

First time around, Barnes didn’t have a strong ass offer for him. This time he does.

I don’t have any new perspective or information. I texted my friend to ask if anything has changed. He sent the overly wordy response of “no”. Ultimately no one gets clicks on an article called “Nothing New with Phillips”. There was always going to be a G League follow up after his presentation last week. Apparently that’s why he didn’t announce last week. As of yesterday, our coaches were very confident, but no one knows for sure. He has not told any reporter what he’s doing if our coaches don’t know. Auburn “leading” is clickbait. He may sign there tomorrow, but there’s no new information that indicates that.
