'22 SC SF Julian Phillips (Tennessee commit)

Yeah it should would stink for us to have multiple pages talking about how much points Jullian Phillips will average for us and then he sign with Auburn.

Not much left for Barnes to get this cycle.

Never underestimate Coach's under the radar double secret, in the top left hand drawer list. KC level recognized recruits are getting slim but productive guys hidden away and brought in late in the cycle like Vescovi and ZZZ may still be out there and he does not want to introduce them to competition too early. Probably needs to insure better cultural fits this pass. With One TIme out there, just talent does not pay off as consistently as it used to, taking some longer term guys with high staff evaluations might pay off. Learning curves are not equal.

I mostly agree with your assessment, although, to the bolded, I don't think it's fair to dismiss his ability to any degree simply because it was at the high school level, especially this past year. His Link Year Prep team has multiple high-major players and they played a national schedule that pitted him against some of the best players in the country. No, it wasn't SEC competition night in and night out, but it wasn't your run of the mill high school experience, either. He's been tested.
Agreed, my concern is setting our expectations that he will do the same at the collegiate level. He may. But I suspect he will not look that fluid until the 2nd half of the season.

I feel like he’s the type that is going to piss off/aggravate many uneducated fans, he may just average 9/10ppg but with his measurables that’s enough to have him be a lottery pick. Kendall Brown at Baylor this year as a freshman has very similar measurables to Phillips, averaged 10/5/2 on 34% shooting from deep, he would flash dominance but for the most part a nice role player on a good team, most of our fan base would be scratching their heads trying to figure out why he was a 5 star and starting threads saying no way he’s ready for the NBA.

Oh boy. I want him just a little bit more now

Slater knows I’m sure, that dude is more connected than anyone.

He knows. And he typically is unafraid to drop obvious hints. So, him actively deciding to not give his audience the news is interesting to say the least. I almost admire how Phillips and his circle have kept things from leaking. People usually are unafraid to spread the news once they know it.

Slater literally told everyone where Brandon Murray was going 24 hours before he chose Georgetown.

Yeah, I remember when he did that for Murray lol.

I do wonder if this tight-lipped secrecy ultimately leads to him just going the professional route. You’d have to think with 22 hours till his commitment if it was a college some crystal balls would be rolling in.

Again, I respect the hell out of his circle keeping this thing so close to the chest lol.

Honestly the fact that no one knows makes me think G-League
