22-year-old reported missing after boyfriend returns home from cross-country trip without her

i just don't understand why the parents didn't turn him in.

Depends, maybe they're the type that can't bring themselves to believe their son could do that. He may be good at bs-ing. Or they could be a-holes like the guy's family that probably killed Kristin Smart and actively are helping him cover it up.

If they did actively help him cover things up I hope they get charged.

the FBI is involved here. Kid crossed severap State lines. Any charges will be big boy charges.

I think it’s possible his parents didn’t know anything initially. He could have told them a number of things. Could have simply said they got into an argument during the month long trip and she went to her parents for the time being.

I understand the feeling.

We do not know what they were told. We know nothing at all about what has gone on with the young man except that he returned alone and lawyer-ed up. Admittedly a poor look for him, but again, we know nothing more than what I just said.

I cannot imagine what her parents are going through; never lost child. His parents may well lose their son as well, either through suicide or possibly through conviction of a crime. Assuming they knew the young lady and not completely heartless a-holes, they have to be grieving as well for her loss. He did not seem to be a bad sort, based on the one videoed interaction with the police and no one has come out of the woodwork with bad stories. But regardless of what comes out in terms of his possibly being innocent of any harm to her (I doubt he is does not have some culpability, but again, I do not know) his life going forward is going to be tough. Most everyone right now wants to take him to the nearest tree and hang him.
That's very reasonable. I guess you don't know how you would respond if you were in that situation.

The thing that irks me is that they did not cooperate with police at all. If they believed their son was innocent, they would not have clammed up and hid. They would have been active in trying to help discover the location of their son's fiance, who I understand lived with them for some time. They also knew their son was gone and waited 4 days before telling the police.

Im really surprised there was a body to recover with all the wildlife in the Tetons. Mountain Lions,Grizzly, and Wolves. Wonder if he hoped one of those would of dragged her off.

#BREAKING TOW TRUCK ARRIVES AT LAUNDRIE HOME: An update in the #GabbyPetito case as a tow truck has arrived at the home of Brian Laundrie in North Port, Florida. Earlier today, a search warrant was executed at the home, a day after a body matching Gabby's description was found in Wyoming

you being in law enforcement Im wondering can the parents be charged with accessory to a crime for not cooperating with the police ?

I think they would have to lie to the police to obstruct. Best way to avoid that is don’t talk. For aiding a fugitive I am unsure. He wasn’t charged so unless someone can prove they knew he broke the law, it would be hard to establish intent.

At this point he hasn’t been charged with a crime or have a warrant for his arrest. If lawyers tell them to not talk then legally they are protected at this point.
Guess we gotta wait for the coroner to make the cause of death known - Ive not seen any reports of of trauma yet

That was my first thought then you sit back and say what if this was you and your kid? It's easy to blame the parents and probably rightfully so BUT unless you have been there it's tough to judge. I worked in LE for almost 16 years and many of times there was incidents where you knew the parents were lying or botching the investigation and as much as it angers you, part of you understands.

I can't imagine the thought that my kid would come home and confess that he killed his gf or was even a part of such a awful crime. Without knowing the family and their history it's hard to totally blast Brian's parents. Should they have told LE if they knew anything or if they know where he's at? Of course, but knowing the police want him and most of America wants to see him dead would be a tough spot for a parent.
I've probably watched just about every First 48, and what I gather from those is:
The average run of the mill murder is poorly thought out if at all. Many are spur of the moment.
The average murderer hasn't done this before and will panic.
When people panic they tend to go to places where they can trust people and feel safe.
Family will cover for a murderer even if they know he did it.

My guess would be something physical got out of hand and he ended up killing her. May not have intended to initially but it wound up that way. In a panic he dumped her body and went back home. He most likely told his family and instead of turning him in they let him go and told the cops he just disappeared. I still think he could have offed himself, but it's also possible he's such a coward he can't go through with it.

So his family says he left Tuesday and they didn't tell authorities until Friday?

Yeah.....they can pound sand. They're either incredibly naive or they know exactly what happened and are helping him get a 3 day start.
Seems like I seen today that he was supposedly spotted in Mobile Ala but I do not know if it was confirmed. I bet his parents knew that he done it and they are trying to protect him.

They will catch him using a credit card or something at a gas pump or restaurant - most of these idiots dont think about that

I hope the dude is dead but the body is ever found and his POS parents get to hope and pray for the rest of their lives.

Okay, this is a weird tangent but it’s funny the little things people don’t think of. This goes back almost 40 years but I remember some folks in a car that got surprised by a cop late one night someplace they shouldn’t have been. They killed their headlights and took off down the road and made a quick turn into a trailer park. Cop never saw em and was cruising on past but he happened to glance at the trailer park and right then the idiot driver of the car hit his brakes to go over a speed bump. I always thought that was funny.

I'm not calling this a conspiracy but I find the reactions of the father of Gabby to be really odd.
Yes he says he's totally upset, I'll do whatever it takes to find her. But his emotions just seem flat. No tears, no red face, not sweating. I would be mad as hell and it would be impossible to contain my rage.

Reminds me of a criminal that was running through the woods at night a few decades back. The police couldn’t see him until every time he started running his shoes lit up (he was wearing LA Gear light up shoes). If he would have just stayed still or taken off his shoes he would have gotten away.

Everyone handles stress and grief in different ways. I've told WAY to many parents/spouses the worst news any human should ever be told and there is a VERY wide variety of responses. People hand emotional news different. Myself I'd be besides myself in her dads position or probably in jail for beating the #$%#$ out of Brian's parents.

I think you're over-analyzing it.
