22-year-old reported missing after boyfriend returns home from cross-country trip without her

LATEST: THE SEARCH FOR BRIAN | Police have resumed their search efforts for missing person of interest Brian Laundrie at Carlton Reserve in a vast wooded area of Sarasota County, Florida. Meanwhile, an autopsy is being conducted on the remains that match Gabby Petito's description.

This case has been a wild ride, I've got this feeling that when it ends, it's going to be chaos.

More idle speculation:

The story is that Brian Laundrie drove to the Carlton Reserve, parked his car and hasn't been seen since. The Reserve is vast but does have several roads crossing it, so if he had wanted to disappear for a while but was concerned about being watched, he easily could have hiked several miles to a pre-arranged remote pickup point on a road where a friend stopped and picked him up at night without anyone ever seeing. Then they go to a loaded car they have waiting for him elsewhere and he takes off.

He's used to camping, hiking and living in a vehicle. With a stash of cash and some burners he could stay off the grid for quite a while if he's careful. He's had at least a week, he could be anywhere in the country at this point.

Or a country with no U.S. extradition treaty[/QUOTE]

The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office in northwestern Florida said Tuesday that it is "actively" looking into a report about a trail camera capturing an image of a man resembling Brian Laundrie, the person of interest in the Gabby Petito case.

"I’m not saying this is the guy but whoever was on my trail camera this morning in Baker, Fl strongly fits the description of Brian Laundrie, authorities have been contacted but people in the North West Florida area be on the look out," a Facebook user named Sam Bass wrote last night about the picture taken at 6:17 a.m. local time Monday morning.

"Obviously we will keep everyone in the loop if and when there is anything to report," the sheriff's office added.

With the ubiquity of security cameras, trail cams, doorbell cams, DOT cams and even dashboard cams, plus every third person videoing something with their phone at any given time, it’s getting harder and harder to stay unseen.

Member when Enemy of the State seemed like sci fi?

Unless you're a Marvel superhero, then you just need a nondescript hat, sunglasses and kiss someone whenever security walks by.

Maybe he wanted to leave her but didn’t know how to tell her?
