You have changed my ways slightly. I was wondering why we took so many this early too. But I'll trust the coaches, it's their job not mine to evaluate football players. It's just more fun to get excited over a 5* commit. :rock:

Great point. Went and looked. Right now, of the 92 verbal commits received by the top 4 teams (Bama, Clemson, SCar, Georgia) on Rivals team rankings, 38 are 3 star players. That's 41% of their current verbal commits.

Ignorance is bliss. Love that you keep ignoring the fact that the player on our defense with the most NFL potential (Sutton) was a 3 star. I will trust our coach's evaluation since they have actually recruited and coaches at the collegiate level over those who run websites dedicated to getting hits and making money. You know that our coaches jobs ride on getting these evaluations right don't you?

you are the worst poster on this site...you fling *hit on the wall like a monkey at the zoo with no basis in thought... yet you start threads like this like you are some genius because Shy Tuttle committed...who everyone in the country has known was going to commit to UT for months now... every 5* that comes along,you post"he's a Vol",even when we dont even get one of the 5 OV's,which is usually an indicator of being interested in attending school... you start this thread because you are whining about 3*'s Butch is recruiting,because the one recruiting site you look at have them rated as 3*'s,even though the best evaluators Rivals had,left for 247Sports... and they haven't even been evaluated for their sr season of football,but they suck...

Well of course there are going to be 3*s that are great. People have gotten off course and don't even know the reason why I made this thread in the first place. Just a lot of losers who like to hound people because they have nothing better to do? A lot of times I feel like a Alabama fan the way people talk to me on here.

While I absolutely believe everyone is entitled to their opinion, you have brought this ostracization on yourself, my friend. It does read as if you feel that only highly rated recruits are worthy of being a member of the VFL family and that simply is not the case. CBJ and Co. have done a beautiful job evaluating talent since they got to Tennessee. Corey Vereen and Josh Smith were both 3* coming out of high school. To discredit anyone for being a 3* shows an unfamiliarity or blatant ignorance of recruiting practices.

The second attribute that you hold that discredits your opinions is what appears to be your lack of up to date recruiting information. There have been many instances of this, but recently we heard Jerome Baker's name come back up. I understand there is some smoke regarding him flipping, but to say he is likely to flip to UT is like saying Jaason Lewis was still interested in us after him decommitted from UCLA. Being in the top group before a commitment means little after the commitment.

The third quality you possess that discredits you is your unyielding stance on these targets that you so staunchly believe will be Vols, regardless of recruiting history, level of interest from either party, and general recruiting needs. You simply will not see reason when it comes to some of these guys and it makes you vulnerable to attack on here.

I respect you as a poster and as a human, but if you want to get out of the dog house, a bit more care and research needs to go into your postings. Otherwise, you'll be considered nuttier than squirrel turds for your entire stay on VN. And a word of advice, if anyone offers you a "ban bet" based on NSD pickups, run as far away as you can.

Have you ever given thought to the reason why you are off-putting to so many posters on this site and people "talk to you like you're an Alabama fan"? Do you not think that it could have somehing to do with you? Surely you're not so dense that you don't realize that you have a hand in the situation. There is a reason so many people think you're trolling. It's not like we had a secret meeting and decided to single you out for no good reason. If it was just one or two posters who had beef with you it would be different. But when so many on this site share the same sentiment don't you think that it might just be the way you come across and not that people are just looking to be jerks. You are a vol fan after all, if you didn't rub people the wrong way I'd be willing to bet that nearly everyone on this site would treat you differently.

I am going to explain this, and I will only explain it once in this thread. Every single team in the country takes three stars. The difference between good and bad evaluators is to pick three stars that are Sam Bradford or Cam Sutton, or they pick the ones like our well known bad Dooley recruits. We can't use Cam or Corey to explain how good coach Jones is because they were evaluated and recruited by Dooley, who was actually a good evaluator, but he was a terrible coach.

Lets change this from recruits to movies. Would you be the type of guy who picks his movies by the amount of stars? I did not like all five star movies at all. For example, Gone with the Wind is a five star movie I would not watch because it'd bore the hell out of me. Id rather watch 3 1/2 star Bill and Ted's excellent adventure. Would you dismiss Bill and Ted being a good movie because there's only 3 and 1/2 stars? I would hope not, because it's a funny movie.

because Tuttle is a 5*,you said CBJ is lighting it up because Tuttle committed and shouldn't settle for 3*'s...its the very reason you started this thread because you were losing sleep over so many crappy recruits,when you don't have a clue if they are or not...just what some guy behind a recruiting website says who has probably never played a down of football...

Well you have the right to believe what you want but I won't stray and I won't let up. I will continue to fight, like this young team of superstars. There is still an east title to play for.
