$58 Million Lindsey Nelson Stadium Renovation Details

Don’t want to be a buzzkill for anyone, but note this baseball stadium upgrade is part of a PROPOSED overall UT budget. So, it needs approval(s) first.

Hopefully politics or economics won’t cut it in any way. 🤞 It’s possible it could be approved at a little higher amount before a done deal.

I’d like to say thank you to the young men that were a part of the 2021 team. Some still here, others have moved on. They are a huge reason why this program has life again. Yes, TV recruited/managed and changed the culture. But, ultimately the players performed at level we haven’t seen in years. They are as much responsible for this great news as anyone!
I agree but one could argue that the 2020 squad was on its way setting the bar!
GBO!!

If I’m going to be forced to build the Nashville Oilers, a new stadium, I’m certainly ok with the baseVols getting one!

Maybe a plaque with the team member names could be placed along with each CWS team in the new stadium

There's bound to be someone with a better memory than me on here but I think they were able to keep Dudy Noble open during construction. That would be nice if that could be done. I want to say they started after a season, worked until the next season opened and then finished up the next June to February. I'm like a kid. Too impatient to wait years for the city to get that stadium built. Who knows what kind of red tape that will run into?

Cool video, Tennessee needs to hire ICM too.
Miss State had no good nearby options. Tennessee does.

I would prefer a complete reno or construction completed in 12 mos rather than start and stop over 3.

The Vols playing in a nice large place like downtown or in Kodak would not be a making do. The facilities are better than what we have now and would likely grow the fan base even further. Bigger crowds. Better sight lines. Better concessions,
Losing the turf for a season would be a crapshoot.

There is only about a month overlap in seasons. The Southern League would adjust schedule to keep regional and super regional weekends open.

The Vols play fewer midweek games after AA season starts. Weekend day games would be wrapped up before Smokies night games.

Offices, batting cages and weight rooms would still be available at LNS as would the field-most likely, for practice. Just no fan seating.

I think meaningful Tennessee games in April would outdraw early season Smokies games

Further,
I don't think the Smokies can get out of their lease with Sevierville until 2025.

So if the new stadium is completed before then; the Randy Boyd would likely wish to have a tenant. So if the new stadioum can be largely complete by next Spring then the new French's Broad Titleist Helton Pilot Boyd Stadium would be complete for 2024

That’s to build a new park. LNS will be used in the mean time.
I think this will be a HUGE renovation of LNS similar to what was done at MS St. They continued playing at MS St during the renovation at 75% capacity at a cost of $68M.

For 60 big ones, I don't think we're looking at a mere renovation project. I think we're looking at a completely new ball park, perhaps built on the same site as LNS, but I'm guessing either a different site or one in which the current footprint of LNS is expanded to meet the standards of a stadium like MSU's. I'm thinking we'll have something akin to that stadium, and you can't put that footprint within what is now the LNS site boundaries.

I'm giddy with excitement. Can't wait to see more details of the big picture.
