7th in AP Poll

I can't believe all of this chatter about "their losses are better than ours."

None of these idiots ever answer the question :

Who has Alabama beaten that is worth a damn this season?

The silence confirms your answer and the results back it up.

Nobody.

Ok. You keep saying the same thing and it doesn’t change anything.
You are right ... it doesn't change the fact that Alabama doesn't have any wins over teams which are currently ranked. They lost to the two best teams they played. Tennessee was one of them.

Maybe provide some facts for your opinion other than pulling your finger out of your @$$ and sticking it in the air?

The struggles against Georgia state. Even against Charlotte and sc st they looked bad. Losing to mizzou, A&M, and arky. Barely beating a depleted Kentucky team which was their best win. Hell they struggled versus vandy. Their o-line is awful. Rattler is a turnover machine. Clemson hasn’t gotten any respect all year, everyone knew they were just average. So if you’re going to hype up USCjr you may as well just say we have been overrated all year.

Evidently the wins they do have are relevant enough and the losses of the teams ranked beside them are weighed as well.

So, the Kentucky win was better than Tennessee and Clemson…okay, got it. I’ve got nothing further to say.

That is one factor yes, and you can feel that way, but some people have them as actually having the stronger strength of schedule or strength of record:

A (very) slightly stronger schedule .. but they lost to the two best teams that they played. They don't have any wins over teams currently ranked in any of the polls!

We lost to one of the worst teams we played. Not only lost but blown out. We allowed the pollsters and committee to weigh other factors.

They haven't beaten anyone who is currently ranked. At this late stage of the season that is ridiculous.

Who cares? They can only play who’s on their schedule and have no control over what those teams do. If we didn’t want a ton of other factors to be weighed we should’ve handled business against an inferior team.

Nope. Using the latter argument is a cop out for giving the nod to a team with a more recent history of winning and the media loves.

That is your opinion. Every voter made their determination with their own criteria. The fact is many things could have determined a tie breaker, the margins of loss combined with the opponent quality seems like a fair one to me.

I would put us ahead myself with the head to head win. That’s my methodology here. Someone else might decide that the decision comes down to who would win if we played right now, and decide they would. I’m not sure I agree that they would win today but a lot of arguments could be made that way that are lot crazy.

Another voter might just look at what various models suggest in terms of who is better. The ESPN fpi has them ranked higher, as is their strength of schedule and strength of record. You might disagree with any of these approaches, but at least these approaches have a method to them.

Saying some method you disagree with is a cop out to justify giving it to Alabama ignores the fact that the whole thing was determined by a bunch of individual votes. There was no concerted conspiracy to put them in front of us.

In the the espn model they have a stronger strength of schedule, stronger strength of record, and higher overall fpi. I personally would not use the fpi model, or the sp+ which also favors them as the tie breaker to put them ahead. They may or may not be right but I feel we should get the nod and the other is unprovable. If someone went that direction though I could understand it. It’s also just an example of what I would consider a fair way to evaluate things that does not favor us. I think the way where one looks at higher ranked wins or where one looks at head to head results is fair too.
