9 Gator Starters Gone (Rubbing Hands)

Interesting.

Our offense, with Dobbs/Peterman starting half the season (neither of which were as good as Worley last year) averaged 23.8 ppg.

Meanwhile, your defense allowed 21.1 ppg.

Sooooo........

Yeah........

And we scored that with a Dobbs-led offense scoring a total of 13 points against 2 of our opponents.

Not sure why y'all try to engage Gator fans when we've lost 9 straight to them and as was pointed out, we are 6-22 against them since Gerald Ford was in office. Are we really trying to figure out who had the better team last year when their band of misfits beat our band of misfits by 2 touchdowns? We MUST start beating them NOW so half of our fan base isn't running around trying to justify how we're better than teams who beat us on the scoreboard.

This moral victory crap started when Kiffin was here and needs to get on down the road.

No I agree. I'm the advocate for "stop saying we're going to beat Florida this year, you sound stupid."

I'm just making the argument that it is absolutely reasonable to blame last year's loss to that awful crap excuse for an SEC team on the fact that our first half QB play was atrocious.

So...yeah...

The UF defense UT faced was slightly better than the UF defense that finished up the season without Easley, Morrison, Powell and Bullard...and anyone else I missed who tore their ACL on defense.

But sure, Worley would have killed us in those two additional quarters he didn't play against a UF defense at full strength.

Agree... Our first half qb play was atrocious and that was the first CBJ move that I questioned then and still question. Nathan Peterman was about as ready to play qb aginst UF in the Swamp as Taylor Swift was.

That's the most frustrating thing about the UF rivalry. They beat us when they're good, they beat us when we're good. They beat us when we're bad, they beat us when they're bad. They beat us when both are everage.

I keep hearing that the tables will turn, I'm waiting and hoping. But we gotta take their **** until this series turns around.

Killed you? No. At least scored a couple of touchdowns on you? I would say so, yes.

At least he would have done much better than 5 yards and an interception that was throwin up in the air to your D-lineman.

Yep, no doubt, and that one is on Butch! In hindisght, Worley clearly gave UT the better chance to win that game, and it wasn't even close.

Unfortunately, we don't get do-overs because of bad coaching decisions, those still count as losses.

I'd prefer CBJ not screw up in games against UF going forward.

Not disputing Worley would not have performed better than Peterman. JoAnn Worley would have performed better.

Justin Worley was not the difference between UT winning and losing. He was the difference between 31-17 and 31-23.

Jeff Driskel was the most efficient QB on the field for UT, and UT's defense shouldn't go completely blameless for giving up a 31 spot to Tyler Freaking Murphy.

Our linemen did you a solid by tripping each other, so no harm done. :eek:lol:

At this point we're just disputing theories, but I don't think y'all score 31 if Worley plays the whole game. Our defense was done. Peterman was either 3/out or turnover on the majority of his possessions. Worley could have kept our defense off the field for longer. With Peterman in, our defense barely got to sit down before they were back on the field again.

Any QB would have had their way with our defense by the 2nd half of the game.

And this is when I shake my head.

UT's defense couldn't stop UF at any point in the game, first half or second half, regardless of who was playing QB on the other side for UT.

Murphy gave your D several Driskel-like opportunities, and your D let him off the hook. By the second half Murphy got his legs underneath him, and by then it was too late.

And I maintain UF's defense was among the nation's best before everyone started tearing ACLs all over the place.

Sorry I didn't realize you were using cold hard facts with statements like

Justin Worley was not the difference between UT winning and losing. He was the difference between 31-17 and 31-23

and

Our defense was better than your offense last year, with or without Worley.

These are called theories. We're disputing theories.

Worley wasn't injured until the SC game.

Peterman playing in that game remains one of the worst coaching decisions of Jones' first year. He wasn't even remotely close to being ready to play and I just dont know what CBJ saw leading up to it that made him think otherwise.

Thank God UF was awful because any other year we would have literally lost that game by 40 points.

i was going to ask who the 9 starters are.

hell, i started a couple of games last season.

Yea, the Gators had 107 different starters last season...it was one injury plagued year for sure...

I think we're still behind most folks in the SEC in terms of talent...

After witnessing the beat down just prior in Eugene, OR. I can't say that I disagree with CBJ. He was trying to make something happen in terms of motivating Worley or maybe he saw something in Peterman during the last few weeks of practice that led CBJ to believe he would have provided the necessary element for scoring points.

However, as evidenced by game day, Peterman wasn't ready for that environment and crumbled like a house of cards.

You're right though if it were during a year when Florida was winning 9 or 10 a year, the beating would have been similar to '94, '95 or '07.

I honestly think the pressure from the fans caused the Peterman start. Every UT fan on the radio, on tv, on social media, everywhere were calling for a new QB, and when Peterman was announced everyone thought it was the perfect move.

It wasn't, he sucked it up, and we lost, again.

But, I think CBJ wanted to make the fans happy, and thought Peterman would give Florida issues since they were expecting Worley.

Acc to ESPN:

Easley
Roberson
Watkins
Powell
Purifoy
Harrison
Halapio
Patton
Burton [really glad he's gone]

Of those nine, only Halapio and Harrison started as many as ten games. Why not list Murphy who, with six starts, had more than either Easley or Roberson? Of course, Riggs--one of your favorite smurf dbs--started 12 and definitely should have been listed.
