How many passages are there in the New Testament that speak of the sinfulness of hoarding wealth? Were any of these passages spoken by Jesus, according to the Scriptures?

Depends on what you mean by 'hoarding wealth'.

Being rich is not a sin. Accumulating wealth is not a sin.

Refusing to use part (not all) of your money to help other people is a sin.

I don't feel this is a church and state issue. It's a liberty issue. The athiest who I live next to thinks marriage is one man and one woman also. Being a religious nut job myself people expect me to be anti gay marriage but I'm not. They should be free to chose their lifestyle and get the same legal protection I have.
I'm free to be a Christian and while I believe it's the only way to God, others should be free to think I'm nutz.

Agreed. Funny how that works.

I think the term "hoarding" implies keeping to oneself. Thus, anti-Christian in essence.

I consider homsexuality a sin in the eyes of God, but it is no more of a sin that any other sin. All sins are forgivable with the exception of unbelief .

Per the Bible one must be "saved" to enter heaven.

I haven't read anywhere in the Bible that a homosexual is going to a different hell than anyone else. Sin is Sin.

Is there no heirarchy of sin? Or are all sin equal?

Exactly the opposite is true. Sin has been so glorified by Hollywood and Americans are so constantly bombarded by filth from absolutely every angle that many of us are confused. We think because network TV can't produce a sitcom without a homo these days that it is acceptable. The truth is Gods word and warnings do not change along with the deluded masses. When we die we will be held to the rigid set of guidelines for sin that were given to man thousands of years ago. He made that clear. Unrepented sin of any nature will result in eternal damnation. Period. Homosexuality is clearly included in this proclamation. If you can read and understand english this is apparent. He doesn't use vague terms on the matter...or salvation and judgment. You or I can choose to deny this but the penalties remain the same.

Cool story bro. So, since you believe that load of **** we are supposed to deny freedom to others? Seems totally fair.

I had answered incorrectly and changed my response.

In the OT, Exodus and Deuteronomy speaks of various kinds of sins.

Gotcha. I was under the impression that there are conflicting passages about the weight of sins.

What do you mean exactly when you say end result?

I venture to say any degree of sin equals hell

If one has not been "saved" then hell is their eternal home.

One can be forgiven of any sin and be saved with the exception of unbelief. If one does not believe, one cannot be saved.

so you can kill and eat your children and still get into heaven by being "saved", but being just a tad skeptical without resorting to cannibalism gets you on the escalator to pineapple enemas?

do Christians have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

Not how I took his question

I do not think there are big sins and little sins in the eyes of God. All sin leads to hell. The only way to avoid hell is by being saved.

I am be wrong and you have a better understanding but that is the way I understand the Bible.

How can you be a tad skeptical? And I've never met anyone who lived a perfect life except being a tad skeptical. If you or anyone for that matter is honest there is a lot of junk in your life to answer for. Because nobody but you knows doesn't mean it's not there.

I'm agnostic, so I'm skeptical. What you seem to be saying is that someone like Pol Pot could have a deathbed conversion and be accepted into Heaven.

If that's the case, if Heaven is also filled with people like that, count me out. I think I'll stand on principal, even in whatever afterlife awaits me.

The hang up is people can be forgiven of being monsters?

Yeah, but he wasn't Pol Pot, and he lived out a life of serving the Lord.

Saul/ Paul is a great example that anyone can be forgiven by God.
He was a very evil man and at the time if his conversion he was actively persecuting the Jewish people.

There are more examples in the Bible that shows evil men being forgiven.
