_Vols in NC...get out and vote!!! Need your help. MAY 8

If you're not in the SEC, you're not a southern state! Bite me, tool!

Haha.

Respect for North Carolina. TN, VA, NC, and AR were the last 4 to secede, and only did so after Lincoln ordered them to raise militias to attack their southern brethren.

That movie is good, but it also tries to make the point that the bible doesn't necessarily say that homosexuality is wrong. Not saying I dont disagree, because I do believe that sexual orientation isn't a choice, but some more culturally conservative folks might have a conniption fit over that movie.

I made my mom watch it after she made a "it's a choice" comment once. But I what really wanted her to get out of the movie is that much of the verbage in the bible has been lost in translation over 2000 years. Of course bible thumpers will say the that the texts today match the original scrolls word for word but neglect to acknowledge that the meaning of certain words change over time. It's all about cultural and historical relevance. The word "gay" is a prime example.

The movie points this out in relation to the Leviticus and the term "abomination".

Imagine if the south had won but those states hadn't seceded. Virginia would have felt pretty awkward up there.

I don't consider Florida to be part of the South and they're in the SEC. Probably wouldn't consider TX either

My point was, in all the NC gas stations I've ever been in, I have yet to see a guy in there wearing a wifebeater and no shoes. Maybe they're out there, and I've misjudged the state as a whole.

cruise through Shelby or Saluda, the Mulletocracy is concentrated in those two smaller towns

Seems to me that marcus presents himself as a freedom loving conservative. However, why would anyone who really loves freedom and liberty care about what other people do if it doesn't harm others?

I don't care what gay people do. It doesn't affect my life one iota. Live and let live is my policy.

It's politics. All politicians employ pandering in order to get votes. Abortion has been a political football for years. The anti-abortion party had control of all branches of govt in the mid 2000s. Did we see any legit pushes to do much about it then? Any issue dealing with gays is not significantly different. No party has a monopoly on pandering.

On the one hand, I think that states shouldn't be involved in the marriage game, yet at the sametime, I respect the right of the people to decide what goes on in their state.

I think you can still be pro-10th amemendment but not agree with 1 particular state's laws. Besides that, I think some of you on the pro-gay marriage side are exaggerating the impact on the individual's freedoms. The couple can still go to another state that recognizes that union if it means that much to them. Hell, I like going to casinos and gambling, but I'm not so bent out of shape about it that I am considering moving to Tunica or Vegas.

As a devout Christian, who believes that Christ was born of a virgin, died on the cross with a purpose, and defeated death on the 3rd day, I firmly believe that being gay is a choice. And I believe it's wrong.

Down syndrome, mental disabilities, etc are a disease. Being gay is not a disease.

With that said, God made us with a soul to choose for ourselves. Whether we agree with choices are not, everyone should be allowed to make them. As well, we've prevented humans from fully enjoying the benefits of being an American based on many a things (gender, race, etc) all if which were wrong. Why is this any different? Because they're different?

Not to mention, Christ didn't run to the government to fix "problems". You want to see change? Be the change personally

It's definitely a touchy subject but can lead to some good debates. Sometimes.

WTF does that have to do with your Christianity? I hate that the question of whether or not it is a choice is even asked. It really detracts from the conversation.
