Because we all know for a fact that the gays are incapable of controlling their deviant little sexual desires. I'm so glad all the heteros can act more civilly. Since gays are so promiscuous and incapable of fidelity, I'm sure the divorce rate would skyrocket to 50% if gays were ever allowed to marry. Oh wait......

True. Among many things, gay is not a choice, by and large.

However, hating and/or discriminating is always a choice.

Before we knew anything about sexuality, a neighbor that I grew up with was ALWAYS Wonder Woman when we played super heroes among many other things that make sense now. Despite his abhorrent and evil "choice", he is still a very good friend to me and my wife. My 2 daughters absolutely love him. If only adults would learn lessons from children on defining others by what's in their hearts and how they treat others rather than stuff that is none of our business, the world would be much more pleasant.

A good documentary on the religious persecution of gays is "Because the bible tells me so". It shows how devoutly religious families have learned to accept their gay family members.

There are certain issues that shouldn't be allowed to be determined by the general population. If we had allowed the Southern population of the 1960s to approve or reject the Civil Rights they would have most certainly voted them down.

the problem with votes like these is the small numbers that are fired up about the cause will get out and cast a ballot. The large portion that really doesn't care what people do will stay home and it will pass.

unless it's on another important ballot, voting for something that does not affect my life one bit seems like a wasted trip

That movie is good, but it also tries to make the point that the bible doesn't necessarily say that homosexuality is wrong. Not saying I dont disagree, because I do believe that sexual orientation isn't a choice, but some more culturally conservative folks might have a conniption fit over that movie.
