A few facts for the mopes on here

Also, you mentioned in another thread that you were on board with this staff until they lost one they shouldn't. I asked you in that thread, of the rest of the teams on the schedule which ones should they not lose too?. Not trying to be a smart a$$ just curious where you would set the bar.

uga, usc, and bama. i expect to be losses. i would love to see an upset of one/all of these teams but just cant see it. they have too much talent over us. i think the best shot will be against usc

i fully expect to beat mizzou, vandy and kentucky. if we dont have any more player losses for whatever reason i would be disappointed if we lost any of these. mizzou is 4-0 but havent played anybody yet, vandy has no qb and its a home game, and kentucky is well, kentucky. of these i might could overlook mizzou just because its away but i would still have a hard time getting over it.

ua a toss up. they havent had nearly the players lost that we have had so they still out talent us but its a 1st year coach and a home game.

so yes, i expect us to make a bowl game.

Edit: Also, I have never said the coaches suck. That's the problem with many on this board. You say one negative thing or question the coaches even the slightest and you hate them, think they suck and think they should be fired immediately.

no worries here. i was just wondering what you had called into question.

its easy to say "why did they do that?" after the fact. ill give an example i saw on here. someone said the fake fg was the dumbest thing they had ever seen. how? it worked. it wasnt jones fault they false started and save the bs about waiting for a big game to try it. jones saw that game slipping away and tried to regain momentum. it was a brilliant call.

i was as pi**ed as anybody about the oregon beatdown but they are gonna do that to most of the teams they play this year. wished jones had went for those 4th and shorts tho.

madder than H*** about the uf game. if he hadnt started peterman i believe we would have been right there at the end. only problem with that i was one of the guys calling for peterman to start. i did think after the 2nd t.o. he should have pulled him but i also understand why he didnt. kids first start and didnt want to crush him after 2 bad plays.

How many 4 and five star players does South Alabama have?

I am sorry but I am tired hearing this. We would have been up 45-7 or 45-14. Unfortunately due to our lack in qb play we gave the game away. When Worley loses confidence he completely loses control of the game and himself. The qb is the general, the leader of the whole team, when your leader is weak minded and can't get it done everyone feels it. I am not knocking Worley, but again he just is not the right guy for the job. For now tho we must stick with him until the bye week. I guess most haven't played the game so they just can't understand

If the thread is about the lack of talent then the talent of the competition is fair game! Sorry you don't see it that way. USA should not been within 28 of us except at the start of the game. I don't care what the reason.

This. Worley turned what should have been a blowout into a close game. The rest of the team fell a notch also, but their confidence got rattled. That, and USA no longer had to respect the pass.

It's good to see at least one person that 'gets it'. :good!:

Have you played ball at the d-1 level or pro level??

We did have superior talent but not at the one position you needed it most, quarterback. They had two very good qb's that were leaders.

I know you can be unreasonable but 28 points Vegas only had us as a 19 point favorite.

I think InVoluntary and oregonvol are the same person. :birgits_giggle:

LOL, not hardly. Go find a post where I've been critical of the coaches other than a couple of minor things. I have been very critical of posters that can't have a reasonable discussion both positive and negative about the team and the coaches. Many posters on here go into attack mode the minute someone dares to question Butch. As I've said many times, I like coach Jones. I hope he is the next General Neyland. I hope he is successful because if he's not, we start this whole process over in 2-3 years from now. Have I been impressed his game planning and game day decisions? No, I have not. I think he's learning on the job to a certain extent.

Now Oregonvol has his own view of the situation and while I agree with some of his points, mostly I don't. I do respect his opinion as I do everyone on this board and I usually just avoid posters that I think are over the top. I do not call people's opinion moronic, stupid, or whatever the insult of the day is. I also do not question their fanhood or question their knowledge of the game.

Sometimes, I'll ask a question to a poster that post something that contradicts their stance to cause them and/or others to think about the other side of the issue as I did in this thread.

You could not have described my thoughts any better! We are on the exact same page. :salute:

It is blatantly obvious that some of our fans have ridiculously absurd expectations. We are 3-2, which is what 99% of the informed sports world would have predicted at this point.

We will be huge dogs in the next three games. My hope is that we improve enough to at least make some noise in the final four games. That is where the talent level will a little more even.

Good post and I agree. While at this point I have to question a couple of the coaching decisions I refuse to criticize them this season.

I think what we are seeing is a coaching staff that is learning how to coach in the toughest league in the country and team that is really struggling to find an identity. I think Saturdays game was more about finishing a game than it was coaching or talent.

To think that any coach can just waive a magic want and fix all problems that have been 8+ years in the making is just asinine. Saban couldn't do it at Bama, and I am not surprised that Butch hasn't done it here.

I will give hime this year and into next season before I start making any real evaluations.

I've got a quick question I'd like to confirm if someone doesn't mind:

How many players were on the roster when Dooley took over and when CBJ took over?? Before and then after the first class. Thx.

Did Doolander deserve three years?

He probably did not earn 3 years but I believe it is detrimental to any program to fire a coach before that.

I also believe that Jones will/should be given no less than 4 years so as some sort of stability is obtained.

Unconditionally? If we haven't made a bowl after three years?

Why not?? Everything written in this thread can be used during dooley's tenure. Imagine Hart leaving after the season and the new AD wanting to make his own mark, throw in the NCAA as ur office neighbor, and a team full of misfits.

CBJ needs to take care of business ASAP. If he doesn't he won't survive this fan base. His top recruiting class will start to dwindle, and he will have to start settling for players he wouldn't have normally wanted. We were told he can coach up players and do more with less, and he hasn't proven that yet. So if he has to settle with regular talent players, and learn how to coach against the top coaches in the country??? Hart is clock with this hire, so CBJ needs to survive for both of them. I think so given the state of the program and the financial situation the program is in but a loss to a Kentucky team with a WR as the QB could change that.:)
