A few thoughts after Day 1

All true. The psychology of posters is an interesting study. I want to be entertained and am not afraid to be let down. It's football. If they disappoint, I'm pissed for a few minutes then over it. I'm not going to prevent myself from being excited because I'm scared of getting myfeelings hurt like a teenage girl.
But some love being negative, right and to remind you adnauseum. Picking out the negative in anything is for the weak minded. Anybody can do it.
That's a big pile of sunshine pumping.

At any rate, when a coach talks about how they all couldn't believe the lack of speed last year and intimated their CMU and Cincy teams were faster, they weren't joking, and it showed on the field. Now, when Butch, Swain and others say the speed has greatly improved, he's not joking.
The difference between last year's mental/physical speed on the field to this year will be like jv vs varsity.

Seriously? Weak minded is ignoring either positive or negative. We DO have people here that ignore all positives... but we have far more than go into orbit if you point to something that is negative.

No one is a perfect "realist". We are all shaded by our biases and ignorance of all facts. But people who refuse to see just because it is inconvenient to what they have already taken by faith... are the weak minded.

People that pick out the negative more than positive are weak minded people. It's my opinion and is pretty clear.

That says nothing about being objective or realistic, so bark up another tree for your arguing habit today.

Great observation. I hope you are right.

They've also taken a different direction with the DL. Smaller and faster. Hope it works.

I hold no grudge against you but you illustrate in part what I was pointing to. You come onto a message board and throw out opinions then get all in a huff when someone disagrees with you or points out flaws. Does your clear opinion not allow you to have a back and forth without getting upset or holding a grudge?

Our QBs look a lot more competent. I can't wait to see them in pads and working as a unit but if Worley can consistently hit our guys in stride and our Oline is somewhat effective our offense could really cause some headache. Especially since a lot of what I read about other teams in the SEC is that their weaknesses are in their secondary. If we have a cohesive unit early on we really could be looking at an 8 win season with a moderate D. I know I would not want to play us come Nov. and who knows, maybe we catch OU off guard early on and create some momentum that we haven't experienced in a while. All I know is I'm #*&#ing excited! Go VOLS!

You continuously argue over semantics or nothing. Picking out the negative in anything is easier than going the positive route. That person that can go the positive route has a stronger mind imo than a person that always beitches about something.
I don't know how much cleare I can be. That's my opinion. If you think the opposite, fine, but I didn't bring up.half the stuff you try to argue about. You brought up blind faith and that has nothing to do with my post.

The den mother comment wasn't aimed just at you. As I said, I see it a lot here.

It's just that, to me, telling others to relax and not to lose their minds, when they are just stating their observations, goes beyond simply responding with your own differing opinion.

But that's just my opinion. No offense intended.

"Relax" wasn't meant as a stop being positive. It's just a way of saying let's not get too ahead of ourselves after one practice. "lose their minds" is an over-exaggeration and figure of speech and all I said I don't understand how some people can do that so early.

Now don't get me wrong I'm fully on-board with the young guys and this team. I truly believe we'll win 7 games this year. I'm all for it. But I guess where I'm coming from is that I'll wait a few more days when they start hitting before I too "lose my mind" lol

I don't know why positive comments are so frowned upon. In this establishment. It's always been that way. If you support a coach, you are an 'ite or 'ander. If you are excited and talk about good news from practice, you are a pumper and predicting an undefeated season.

The vast majority understand it's the first practice and not in pads and don't need reminding as we've been watching and reading for longer than many of you have been alive.

Agree Sparty. The time for naysaying was the offseason and the offseason is over, practice has begun and I'm flat out giddy and full of the attitude that anything is possible, because it is. Realism and excitement can coexist in the same body and that's where I am today.

It's either that or act like it's going to be miserable, tell everybody, then taunt later in the year with I told you so's.
It's a no brainer for me each year. If I were to choose the path above, I wouldn't watch the sport anymore.

Sjt, I think I speak for a lot of posters when I say that your act is wearing thin. You seem determined to get into an intellectual argument with someone every time you log on. Just give it a rest, K?

I don't think the "opposite". You said it was weak minded not to intentionally bias toward the "positive". I answered you... Now as is par of late, you are getting all jacked up over it.

I haven't messed with you for awhile. We disagree but that's OK. Sparty has just gotten into a habit of lecturing... that's pretty much an invitation for argument.

Thanks for saying something though... and that is very sincere. Not sure if Sparty wants to keep it going or not but I do appreciate you for letting me know.

BTW, I've posted quite a bit of positive comments this morning too...

I'm still picking 6-6, but I so hope I'm wrong. I would much rather be wrong and happy about it than the alternative.

I'm not jacked up but your first sentence is your problem. I posted nothing about intentional bias towards the positive. I said pulling negative out of every situation. Can you not understand the difference? Is that why you just create your own sentences and arguments?

As par for the course, you take over another thread arguing with points never made by another poster. Congrats. It's getting old.
