Dude, all you do is lecture. Its not personal, just back off a bit.
Watched all the video I could find from last night... a few things that caught my attention.
1) Transfer WR Adrian Gamble looks very fast and fluid with good hands
2) Cortez McDowell is a BIG safety
3) Vic Wharton gets to top speed in a couple of strides, caught passes & punts very well
4) Alton Howard looks to have dropped about 15 lbs from last season and is quicker
5) Derrell Scott looks much bigger than I thought he'd be and is super quick
6) Todd Kelly Jr. is a BIG safety
7) TE, whoever it is will be a weapon for us
8) WR position is stocked 10 deep, at least
9) Lane, Hurd, Scott, Paulk et al will be fine as long as OL comes together
10) Worley has added some serious zip to his arm
I'm not sure we can make any of these judgments after just one practice in which we only saw snippets of drills.
That being said, if anything Pig has bulked up. I've seen him around campus (TRecs, around the strip/fort) a couple times this summer. He's a short dude (5'7-5'8ish), but has a pretty solid look to him. If we're 1-2 inches taller with the same build he'd be an easy 205-210.
We watched 2 minutes of film without pads and people already think they know what's up... The only thing we know for fact is that we will be faster but younger.
I will try to write differently. I really do try to use "IMO" or "I think" or "I believe" to make it clear that I am stating opinions. I never come to opinions without reason and never abandon them without reason. So I do have strong opinions and can come off as preachy when my intent is to spark honest debate... Iron sharpening iron.
But I again in part because we often don't agree but you are still a pretty reasonable poster... I appreciate your admonition to tone it down. Thank you. I will try. Feel welcome to "check" me anytime.
All I've seen in print or online says the same thing you just said but looking at him last year he looked thicker especially in the lower body compared to last night.
Check out the attached picture, I combined a first week practice photo from last year and this year. He looks more cut and not quite as thick in the lower body.
Who thinks that? People discussed speed and arm strength as noticeable differences from what they saw. Big deal. That's far from knowing what's up.
Speaking of folks who struggle to allow anything positive... you got your Catbone.
The first day of practice is one of the most exciting days in the year. There's every reason in the world to have fun with it and enjoy it.
That said... I think the reports about Worley both on Day 1 and at the Manning camp have importance. They are apples to apples comparisons of JW Day 1 in 2013 vs Day 1 2014. If he's throwing with more confidence and zip... that's a very good thing to hear.
Hope he stays healthy.
