I knew all that and I still couldn't give a flip less about a second rate bowl.

Of course not, Oklahoma and Miami don't play in it as much as they need to for you to enjoy it and when Oklahoma DOES play in it, they can't win the National Title, so they aren't "your team" in those seasons.

LOL Fulmer hasn't had three unranked seasons....didn't you read his post? Oh wait, I guess you are ONLY using the AP poll, since that fits your agenda.
[/quote)

I guess 2005 doesnt count?

In the 80's polls only rated the top 20 teams. But since Fulmer is not rated in one poll and rated #25 in the other that counts?

I rooted for OU in the John Blake days. When they played Arkansas in the Cotton a few years ago, I watched. On television. The Cotton Bowl is great, if you're Texas Tech or Mississippi State.

Beating Michigan in the Citrus Bowl is now a big bowl game? In in the 90's going to the Citrus bowl was a disappointing season now its a big bowl game.

And Majors 2 unranked seasons still compares favorably to Fulmer's 3 unranked seasons.

IMO bowl games are only questionable to you because Fulmer has tended to lose them of late, if he had won them then they would be the most important game of the season, see 1998.

Citrus Bowl was for the number 2 team in the SEC, right?

Also, Majors didn't exactly play in big bowls either...
Minnesota in the Liberty Bowl
Indiana in the Peach Bowl

Finally, the 1999 Fiesta Bowl was for the 1998 National Championship, it is the biggest game of the season. After that, none of our Bowl Games had national championship implications, so, no they would not have been the most important games of the season.

It was a good bowl, but it's definitely not what it used to be. The term "New Year's Day Bowl" doesn't mean quite what it did 15 years ago.
Hell, for that matter it doesn't mean the same as it did 7-8 years ago....you can thank the BCS for that.

In the 90's Spurrier joked about UT having to play in the Citrus Bowl, now its one of UT's Major Bowl Games in the last 7 years? I thinks thats a pretty sad commentary on the state of the program.

Of course 2005 counts. As for the arguement you make for there only being a top 20 in Johnny's days.....Thanks for continuing to make my point on the fact that College Football is a different game in 2006, and that you can't accurately compare the two.

Spurrier was joking about it because UF was pretty solidly the top SEC team throughout the 90s.

Oh yes, because if a Rival says something, we should really care about what he says, and everytime we win the acheivement we should pout because Spurrier said so.

By the way, the same year Spurrier made that comment.....guess what bowl he went to?

Funny how in the 90's the mark of a good season was winning the SEC in the 00's its winning the Citrus Bowl.

What is a disapointment for you, shockingly, may not be for everyone else.

It must be a really frustrating life, going through every season demanding National Championships.

I seriously doubt Spurrier ever lists the Citrus Bowl as one of major bowl appearances at Florida.

We've been here before. Since 03, the Citrus Bowl hasn't existed.

I would settle for winning the SEC, I know thats a hopelessly, unrealistic goal in your eyes, but I can dream can't I?

Again, I care less about what Spurrier does and thinks than I do of what you and hat think of Fulmer.

More a source of pride than playing in the Peach Bowl!

I would say being the 2nd Best Team in the SEC is something to be proud of.

Typical TCHFCATUTKite misinformation and propaganda. Nobody is calling for a National championship every year. This program has won nothing in seven years. Absolutely nothing. I don't think an occasional SEC title is too high a bar to set.

One every 4 seasons seems both reasonable and realistic.

I'm not the type of fan that REQUIRES my team win Championships to support them. Sorry that you are. That must be why you have multiple teams, it's easier to hit a target with more bullseyes on it.

That's the saddest post I've ever read. When second place becomes a source of pride, your program is toast.

Since Va Tech's emergence, and Texas' dynasty run, I guess you as a Miami fan have come to realize that already.

It has nothing to do with pride. It's reality. Some years 2nd place is pretty good. Some years 2nd place is a disaster. It's all relative.

Careful there Hat...Miami is finally in a conference where they will have to compete for a conference championship, and right now they are 0-1 (not even 2nd Place.)

Also, in a conference that includes Florida, UGA, Bama, Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee, placing second is nothing to bury your head in the sand about. That being said, I would love to win the SEC one year out of every five and a NC one year of every 10.

If I "required" championships, I would have gotten off this bus a few years ago. Just admit it. You're part of the fan base that just goes to the game to see the band, eat some popcorn, and if we lose, c'est la vie. Some of us have higher aspirations for the program. If you tolerate mediocrity, you get it.
