A Possible Solution Presents Itself.

I think its fairly reasonable to say pearl contacted the recruits and reminded them they weren't supposed to be there. The fact that he made follow up phone calls to make sure all were on the same page seems like the biggie to me.

Sounds like a secondary violation being self reported would have been the easiest way to go.

I think any follow up phone calls are a biggie. However, If he contacted recruits or prospects after lying to the NCAA, then it would have been too late to self report.

He should have just admitted his transgressions to the NCAA when asked. At this point, Pearl has to be kicking himself for not doing so.

By reading the letter, Pearl told the recruits at the cookout and around he that he knew they were not supposed to be there and to not tell anyone. He also called the father before and after the June 14 interview with the NCAA to remind him the kid wasn't supposed to be there.

It's pretty obvious that this was a cover-up from the get-go. That's what's going to get him.

Thad Matta is the real culprit here. He just can't get over us beating him to make the elite 8 last year. It has even impacted their play this year--oh wait.

Well, Hat was obviously wrong about Larry Brown. He has absolutely no interest in coaching again. He is actually in Lexington helping Cal with the Kentucky Wildcats. No way he would be interested in college coaching.

I couldn't care less if he's interested or not. He shouldn't be a candidate for the UT job should it open.

And you're making a pretty big leap to kiss hat's tail here anyway.

Back to the topic of a solution presenting itself..... We need another coach if pearl is out for an entire season. Hopefully this time we can hire a coach that has put players into the NBA and is capable of making adjustments.

Good point. Let's get Andy Kennedy in here over Larry Brown, right? That makes tons of sense.

No matter how ridiculous the thought of Andy Kennedy is, it still isn't as far-fetched as Larry Brown coming here. Hell, might as well put Bob Knight, Pat Riley, and Jeff Van Gundy in the mix. Also, I hear that Gene Keady is a consultant for Lavin at St. Johns. Might want to get him here too.

No worries mate, we all understand you are firmly in the "Larry Brown for UT coach club". Despite the fact he is 70 and hasn't coached in college since you were born.

I'm convinced if hatvol suggested the men and women switch uniforms you would think that a good idea too. I can see it now, posting about how awesome it would be and calling other people stupid for not agreeing with such an awesome idea.

Why is Kennedy a ridiculous option? You give Kennedy the resources UT can and he'd be a very successful coach.

It'll be funny to see the hat followers think it's a great hire when hat endorses him for being in the Huggins coaching tree. Watch. It'll be funny.

Wouldn't be a great hire, and wouldn't be a terrible hire either.

A improved buzz on the court imo. With the potential for some awesome arrest videos.

There's a big list of coaches I'd rather see hired.

But I've got a soft spot I my heart for people who abuse cabbies. Verbally or physically.

Terrible choice. He's never even made it to an NCAA tournament, and his teams loaf on defense.

I in no way think Larry Brown is going to be coaching here. But to pretend like you'd rather have Andy Kennedy than Larry Brown is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've seen posted on here.

We weren't discussing the chances of landing Larry Brown. We were discussing if we'd rather have him of Andy Kennedy. Obviously, most sane people would rather have Larry Brown. So, it's not surprising that you and UTIE are taking the opposite view.

Law boy having comprehension problems again? Find where I said I would take Andy Kennedy over Larry Brown. That is beyond ridiculous.

It's common sense. Anyone with a brain would want Larry Brown's knowledge on the court.
