No not really. I've said I wouldn't be thrilled with us landing Smart if it took 3+ million to get him and a long contract.

Look at the previous VCU guy Anthony Grant, he hasn't worked out at all like people thought.

If Martin is fired why bring in a coach with a similar philosophy? And while Howland won games, if he was a great coach I think he should have won a NC. I think his offense is worse than Martin's . It cost him games and dropped some of his players draft stock. He couldn't adjust and he got fired. If we get a new coach it needs to be a younger coach with an aggressive offensive philosophy. That's only if we can't get an experienced coach with NBA ties. I don't hate BH but I don't want him here.

Offense sells tickets, defense wins championships....right?

There's a lot of very good coaches who have never made a final 4, Howland would be a great get. His last couple years he didn't adjust and his offense struggled, same could be said about Pearl right? A lot of people would like him back.

9.) Steve Robinson (Assistant at North Carolina)
8.) Steve W (Assistant at Duke..I'm not trying to spell his last name and it's annoying to keep tabbing back to learn how to spell it lol)
7.) Jeff Capel
6.) Leonard Hamilton
5.) Josh Pastner (lol...why on earth would we want him and why on earth would he leave Memphis for UT? wow)
4.) Chris Mooney (Still someone I would want)

Tennessee is not going to hire a big time coach. They are going to hire a decent mid-major coach and hope for the best.

I'd almost rather UT look for someone who has won championships at the lower division than to go for another mid-major.

Why "ugh" on Smart? That's the first call I would make and I would make him say no.

Just because he coaches at the same school has nothing to do with whether he would be successful at a higher level school. Plus, Smart has far exceeded what Grant did at VCU.

Lol at everyone thinking we'll pull in any coach that has a resume. When we hire a coach (I don't think it will be this year), here's what you need to do in advance of the hire:

Open your browser.
Type: Google
Minimize the browser
Click on it when the coach is announced.
Input said coaches name
Get to know your new coach

This administration (president on down) will not hire an established coach.

I don't want Smart because he coached at Grants school. I just don't like him as a coach. There's a lot better guys out there than Smart IMO

Name two. Smart has won at leat 27 games every year. Has reached a Final Four with a team with no real talent , is young and has an exciting uptempo offense with a pressing D. Any body that likes Pearl should be praying we get Smart if a change happens. He would be the best fit. I don't think Martin will get fired or that we would offer enough to Smart anyway though.

After watching the last two games CCM seems to have gotten the Defense corrected and the guys are starting to make shots which has been the biggest problem. They continue to do that and they will win games and go dancing.
