Craft is a hell of a player. I can certainly understand why Pearl wanted him. If he reported Pearl because UT kicked them out of the tournament that is petty but Pearl brought his misfortune on himself by his own mistakes. However Pearl is not trash, a compulsive liar or any of the other idiotic claims on this board. I have no doubt that Pearl has more character than his detractors on these forums. One thing is for sure, none of these folks are likely to ever accomplish 1/10000 as much in life as Pearl already has. Lets face it if they were really quality people they would not be on a forum bad mouthing their betters.

Every coach who wins and recruits well has dirt. It's part of the game. This "classless garbage" you speak of happens at every major program. Some worse than others (i.e. Auburn, USC, etc)

Actually the guy you are responding to is a liar. He is saying that Pearl has been a prolific cheat, when in truth all the violations were or would have been minor if Pearl had just told the truth but to suggest that Pearl has made a career of cheating is just a bald face lie.

If you were trying to do your job in the rules and someone else screwed you royally by breaking the rules flagrantly I cannot say I would not take them down and leave their career in flames. The cheater at Illinois (even though they could not prove it definitively) never got a major job because everyone knew he did it.

Pearl's big crime? He beat lots of people and he was boisterous. He also was a miserable failure in terms of his personal life and conduct. In terms of basketball? He broke a couple of minor rules. He angered big recruits, one of whom had been promised money and who got very upset when he realized that promise was not going to be fulfilled by Pearl. Finally he had a cookout where his committed players wanted to come even though they were not allowed. Wow. Huge competitive advantage conferred.

I do think that lying in one area of life bleeds over to lying in others. Becoming a person who tells the truth all of the time is hard.

All of that said, Aaron Craft is a snitch and a traitor and I enjoyed watching Knight nail the game winner right in his face.

Let's take a step back and look at the big picture here... take CBP and his indiscretions out of the picture. Look at the facts, craft turned down our beloved Vols that in itself makes him a POS scumbag.

This is just my opinion but I think it is stupid to root against the SEC. The prestige of the conference helps all its members. The Big East got 11 teams in because they are considered blown up by sports writers to be the best conference. They may also have some inappropriate influance on the committee that makes the selection. Don't know about that.

I don't blame Pearl or anyone else for reporting cheating in sports. Don't know anything about Pearl being sued never heard that rumor. He lied, but he should not have been terminated.

Has it been confirmed that Forbes lied first? I cannot imagine another reason that Pearl would have lied about a minor violation. If he was trying to protect an asst from the fate of the guys who Calhoun (who is a liar and who lied to the NCAA) threw under the bus then it makes some sense.

I have never defended Pearl's personal life. It is a huge disappointment.
I also have never defended Pearl lying to the NCAA. He took a minor problem and made it a major one.

Does not change the fact that the guy who lit the match of our troubles is Thad Matta with some kindling provided by Craft. We were on Craft so early, and poured so much into him.

Some racist called into Sportstalk the show that Terry Fair has on 100.3 and asked why TN does not recruit more white players. If Bruce Pearl had not recruited Craft, he would be the coach at UT today.

An employee's ethical responsibility is to act in the best interests of his employer. If Pearl lied to protect his assistant, he would have been pissing all over that responsibility.

And wtf are you trying to say with that last paragraph? Seriously, I have no idea.

Tennessee has crap academics and our fans should be more like Vanderbilt's. My son is a top 100 athlete and I decide where he should go based on fan reaction. If fans care enough to be pissed when their coach pursues a player first BC he is first to see immense potential and that player commits which makes the team miss on other players at his position and then he decommits and at the behest of his sore loser hc tries to find a way to burn the former team, they care too much. Jmo gbo.

Hilarious. You sound like the parent of a top 100 lacrosse or field hockey or rowing child.
