I will never defend an Ohio State player above a coach that did as much for us as Pearl did. And for all you wannabe sports reporters who think people are somehow watching this blog to see if you are unbiased... they are not. I think some of you want fans from other schools to say, " Wow those TN fans sure are unbiased." The meaning of being a fan is being biased toward your team. I'm going to defend Pearl forever because he took us farther than any other coach has. I don't give a damn if a Kentucky or Alabama fan tells me I'm being biased because I'm flippin Tennessee fan not a sports reporter!!

A hypothetical -

During Craft's reruitment Matta visits Craft's house. In being a good recruiter, he's looking around and trying to figure out what Craft is about. He sees said picture just in passing. Asks young Craft about it. Craft tells truth. Matta smiles and knows what he's got.

Just hoping that an unintended side effect is bring Tressel and OSU down too. Now that's karma.

Recruits (and, probably more significantly, parents of recruits) do read these boards in hopes of getting a taste of the atmosphere surrounding a program. As the parent of an athlete who was recruited by over 40 schools in his sport, I can assure you that negative posts about innocent kids leave a bad taste in my mouth.

The only part of my hypothetical is that it would still be a secondary violation, which still makes no sense to me why Matta would be so hellbent on making it happen unless he knew Pearl would lie.

When you commit to a school and then change you mind because a 'prettier girl' comes along, you are no longer an innocent.

If you are waiting on a particular offer, then don't commit.

Furthermore, the word 'innocent' does not apply when it comes to recruiting in today's world, imho.

Question for the experts. How did the NCAA get a picture of Aaron Craft at Bruce Pearl's house? Did Pearl know it was taken? I haven't seen the photo.

Perhaps this is a bit of a jaundiced view, but Mr. Craft does have the appearance of a mole in this saga when you consider the enmity fomented in the Buckeye State toward the Vols after we knocked out both Ohio participants in the Big Dance last March. I don't think we'll ever know all the facts of the case, but there's definitely something rotten in this whole Barbecue-Gate scenario.

I think Craft was the most likely culprit, but even taking that into consideration, I was still hoping OSU would kick UK's ass.

Agreed. If it's against just about anyone other than TOSU. Last night's outcome was the lesser of two evils.

I felt different about UK when Pitino and Tubby coached there (why, I can't explain, but I pulled hard for UK against Duke and Laettner). But I just can't cheer for any Cal-coached team.

So it's ok to lie as long as someone does not snitch. Don't blame Craft for this. If Bruce had told the truth it would have been a secondary violation. When he lied it became serious.
