You're assuming that a fetus is a person. Not everyone shares that assumption.
TRUT if the fetus is viable it represents human life. Not trying to debate rights or anything like that just that it is a fetus of our own species.
Mans lack of acknowledgement of their offspring and viability of that offspring as compared to the lower species on the evolutionary chain has made me ponder a few wtfs over the years.
I never said person in my post. I merely said human life and offspring. Pure genetics and biology.
I know, but I don't share your assumption that human life, qua DNA and biology, is special. I think personhood is special. I'm not sure when personhood begins and when it's fully developed. But, I don't think it occurs in a fetus.
Fair enough. Just from a basis of biology I do put value on a fetus. Its the same animal that I and I identify with that. For me its that simple. I dont even consider rights or any of the rest of it.
But thats my opinion. We just disagree. And thats perfectly fine. This is, for good reason, a passionate topic.
I think reasonable people can disagree about this. But, that being the case, shouldn't you then be pro- choice?
I am. I was gonna get around to that. In my home as a matter of legislation our family is pro choice. BUT to us, our family, that choice is a heavy decision. We identify with the fetus. Again, no rights, no self aware none of that. Its one of us. For ourselves we are pro life as a personal decision.
But we recognize our rights are just that ours. And we try to respect the rights of other individuals especially on such a topic as this.
I respect another womans choice with regard to her own health and the fetus within her. I just sincerely ask they recognize the fetus represents human life and to please put value on it when making the decision, thats all.
I do not believe there will ever be definitive one solution to cover all instances of abortion. I just wish the fetus was valued and had advocacy in the ultimate decision is all.
