This is an incorrect statement as it pertains to new born babies. There is a multi year waiting list for a baby here in the US. Once a child hits 5 years old, he/she is labeled a "special needs" child becuase the chances of them being adopted is very slim.
Most of the unadopted kids here are in the Foster program because of their parent/parents having them taken away from them.

Disclaimer: My family were a Foster family for three years in FL but when we moved to GA 5 years ago, we decided to adopt one of those "special needs" kids. Even though we were completely approved to care for kids as Foster parents, we still had to jump through dozens of additional hoops to be able to adopt.
Three years ago we adopted a 10 year old young man.
So, from personal knowledge, the system is completely screwed up and the social workers look at the children in their care as "job security". There were dozens of inquireries that we made about kids in foster care, that were never returned or a phone call was all we received to tell us that they did not want to travel across the state to meet with us or do the paperwork involved in adopting in the ATL area. We wound up adopting out of Colorodo. We were told by social workers more than once, that they did not want to put one of their black kids in a white family. we have kept up with all the kids that we inquired about and most are still in Foster care.

Do you know how much adoption costs? Up front, it is going to cost you any where between $20k and $40k due to regulations, fees, travel, etc. The system as it is right now is screwed up and does not have the welfare of the child in mind, it's an industry.

Life begins when the sperm fertilizes the egg and human DNA is created.
I am against abortion, wish it was not legal. Each person will have to answer for their own choices on the issue.

I am not a scientist but isn't DNA in the sperm and the ova? I could be wrong about this.

what happens when a pregnant woman engages in strenuous physical activity that leads to a miscarriage? Who does she "answer" to then?

I said sperm was involved, after that it is all the life process, is it not. (I was not a biology major, I was a dumb jock)
