Can you maybe rephrase? I'm not sure what point you are trying to make.
Even Hubbs and Price were talking about UT needing to score "style points" because their last 3 opponents aren't very good. Even if UT beats Vandy and USCe in similar fashion... it is possible UT doesn't get into the playoff. TCU beat Texas which will impress voters. USC can still finish as a 1 loss Pac12 champion. And bias could very easily push the loser of Michigan-OSU into the playoff ahead of UT.
UT needs to win and win big. The bad news is that MU is probably a better team than the next two.
Also... UT played poorly enough on D to give the media and committee an excuse. They have to play a lot better these last two games if UT is going to get in.
A good weekend for the Vols. Solid win against an SEC team and you had Ole Miss and Oregon lose so there are 2 less 1 win teams. Perfection would have been Texas beating TCU.
But still concerned. Doesn't look like TCU is going to lose now. My fear of the northeastern sportswriters starts coming up ant time there are 2 Big 10 teams ahead of us. Could see Michigan losing by a point at Columbus and them keeping Michigan ahead of us. (Anyone remember Woodson winning the Heisman.) You know the "committee" looks at the polls.
I think it is the responsibility of the losing team to throw up the white flag. Mizzou didn’t do that. They had a 4th down attempt thwarted by a false start. They kept throwing the ball and trying to score to make the game look competitive. Their starters were still in for UT’s last two scores.Sorry, just some stream of thought. My point is that I find it stupid to value the piling on points in garbage time when a team has already clearly dominated the game. Missouri was beaten and just wanted to get the hell out of there. But as long as that's actually something the committee considers, no one should get upset about it when it happens to them.
I changed my mind concerning this game when seeing Drinkwitz' comments about UT before the season, which I hadn't seen before. Heupel was pretty obviously sending a message with that last score.
My Georgia comment was about the hypocrisy of the media "experts", who talk about 'style points' on one hand and then were bending over backward to make a 2-score UGa-UT game into a virtual blowout - "not as close as the score", etc. Just an aside.

Also we can’t forget UF. The Vols were up 38-21 with 7 minutes left and called off the dogs. UT almost let USCe back into the game last year after starting ti try to run clock
That’s the thing IMO. If MU was concerned about the score then they should’ve started running clock. That would have prevented at least one TD and probably 2.That's true about Missouri keeping the starters in, but this was apples and oranges from the Florida game. 38-21 with 7 minutes left is still technically a game, but 52-24 with about 5 minutes left and their defense on fumes is game over.
Rule of thumb, I suppose, is that as long as the other team has their starters in and is running their offense, don't take your foot off the gas.
It's Clobberin Time! You want to punish Missouri that just because they decided to keep the coach they hired. And give him an extension because they wanted to do that with their money? I fail to understand why this bothers you so much. I don't mind painting 70 points on them, but am confused as to your motivation for doing so.
Now me, I hope we are thrice as good in 2023 and post 70+ on everybody, but 89pts on Bama, Ga, and Fla. My motivation is I like our Vols beating the excretion out of everybody, and giving them a terracotta pot of petunias just for stepping out on the field.
