Yeah, and a major crime rate second only to Detroit Mi. I wouldn't let a kid of mine visit Mempiss, much less live there long enough to play basketball for them. Unfortunately there are parents out there who don't care enough about their children to keep them away from there:fool:

How ignorant are you as a Tennessee fan? We have students going around with guns, robbing people at gas stations, taking road trips to Nashville to get guns, etc. Every city, every college has it good eggs and bad eggs. There are plenty of Tennessee fans on here who are from Memphis.

I hope you don't ever let your kid go to any of the following places (listed as they are ranked):

Miami, Las Vegas, Stockton, CA, Orlando, Little Rock, Charleston, SC, NASHVILLE, Baltimore, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, W. Palm Beach, FL, Charlotte, or Philadelphia. These are the cities in the Top 15 of the Forbes list you are referencing.

Crime in Memphis, as in most of these listed, is isolated to "the hood" areas of these cities that you would never set foot in nor live.

What I've never understood is how come Nashville's crime problem (#9 ranking) is never mentioned by other Tennesseans. I guess as long as criminals are the right color, the violent crime isn't as bad.

"Crime in Memphis, as in most of these listed, is isolated to "the hood" areas of these cities that you would never set foot in nor live."

You just described the entire city of Memphis...or are you suggesting there is a "non-hood" area of that crap-hole city?

You may have been sarcastic here, but deep down you actually believe what you wrote.

Well your overall lack of observation is the least of my concerns. If you can't tell, it isn't because I didn't try to be obvious. Of course people don't think the ENTIRE city is a dirt-hole. There are nice parts of Memphis.

They are called Germantown, Bartlett, and Cordova, and they are actually not in Memphis, but hey, who cares.

Cordova is actually part of Memphis. Dumbass.

I am a life long, white Memphian, that lives inside the loop in East Memphis. Downtown is not the hood as some like to perpetuate. Memphis' nightlife, local restaurants, and cultural arts (Orpheum, Museums, and Zoo) put Nashville to shame.

I do not know why people can't accept the truth about Memphis. Its not the prettiest place in the world, but its cultural is unrivaled in the state. The food is amazing. The nightlife is great. Sorry we don't have a Brentwood or Farragut/West Knoxville areas. Im white, and lived my entire live in Memphis and wouldn't change that for anything. You can really piss people off about ignorant comments grouping people into a group that they don't really belong.:good!:

Fact: Student won $$ at the casinos, was followed, and happened to be on campus, where he lived, when he was shot. This was not a random act of violence.

That "student" was U of M football player Taylor Bradford...

I don't get it. You say the entire city is the hood, then I call you out on it. You say you weren't serious and you know there are nice parts of Memphis. Finally, in the same comment, you insinuate your original statement of the whole city being hood.

It's difficult to understand your opinion.

I am really hoping that Pearl can do the things he needs to get Adonis Thomas.

This may include:
1. Crushing Memphis on the court this year
2. Advancing in the tournament again
and possibly 3. Getting someone to the NBA off a huge year this year.

Melrose's Adonis Thomas shines in AAU play

He is recruiting him hard, but so is Pastner. I like alot of things about Josh, but I hope he falls flat on his face this season so we can get Adonis in a TN uniform.

It was also funny to see Pearl revel a bit in the fact that Wes cannot send Calipari as many players now that he is an agent.

Thomas will sign his LOI long before the NBA Draft. The most that could happen that early is to have a player become highly rated on mock draft boards.

Yeah, I think that is an old picture. Seems like it has been posted on this board, or another board before.

That's exactly right. Most of these idiots that bash Memphis probably haven't even been there.

Whoever said that cordova and Bartlett are the nice parts of Memphis has no clue what they are talking about.

Pastner will not fall flat on his face this year. He will have a Top 5-10 team all year long. They do play in CUSA, after all.

Adonis and his teammates will be starring in a new reality show on MTV that begins filming next week. REality show from Melrose...definitely going to be different than their reality show from Hoover.

A non-police Memphis show? No way. :p

Memphis gets it bad rap because of its demographic and ethnic makeup vs the rest of the state. Denying it is useless. Nothing anyone here says is going to change it, doesn't make it right, but that's the way it is. See Buckhead vs Atlanta metro.

Sorry, see Jon Stewart, that card is denied.

If Memphis had less crime than Nashville, or more importantly if it was not a fact that Memphis by itself makes the difference between a budget problem statewide and a major budget surplus people would love Memphis.

Their local government doesn't help. Elect people like the Fords and that is what happens
