I love Memphis. It has some really nice parts, but people from there have skewed view of reality of it's reputation.

I talk to people out here all the time who have visited TN. Same reaction every time, "Nashvile was such a wonderful city, but what's up with Memphis?"

I am really hoping that Pearl can do the things he needs to get Adonis Thomas.

This may include:
1. Crushing Memphis on the court this year
2. Advancing in the tournament again
and possibly 3. Getting someone to the NBA off a huge year this year.

Answer 1: Crushing Memphis may be a little more difficult than one assumes.
Answer 2: Backcourt play will dictate how deep...

Looks like this thread needs to be renamed.

BTW, Adonis was one of the first 12 selected to the Boost Mobile Elite 24 Classic in Venice Beach, CA. It used to be at Rucker Park but the weather from last year had them decide to change it to somewhere with more predictable weather.

Adonis will be announcing his final list of schools at the Boost Mobile Classic on August 25th per his tweet.

@AllDayThomas It's been a long process but after lunch with my folks I decided I will be announcing my final list of college choices august 25th on espnu for the boost mobile elite 24 game in cali! Tune in!

From Adam Zagoria's blog:

“My top six are Memphis, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, UCLA and Kansas,” he said by phone from the Boost Mobile Elite 24 game in Venice Beach, Calif.

“I don’t have any favorite.”

Yea, nothing too surprising by his list.

He will also be on ESPNU tonight at 7:30pm Eastern for the Boost Mobile Elite 24.

I think if he were to narrow it to 3 it would be Memphis, Tennessee, and Florida.

Looks like an incredible athlete. The only knock I have on him is his release on his shot looked a little low, and when he gets to college he might have to fix that to avoid getting it thrown back in his face.

If he releases the ball in front of his face like he does in a couple shots on that video then he will get it blocked smartass, and I believe he is being recruited to play the 3 not the 2

ESPN has moved him up to #9 in their overall rankings.

Adonis Thomas (Memphis, Tenn./Melrose)
After exploding onto the scene, the 6-6, 210-pound small forward keeps getting better. He moves up to No. 9 in the lastest ESPNU 100 from No. 15 thanks to his versatile inside-outside game and attacking mentality. His skill level continues to improve and he is a coach's dream.

How do any of the "insiders" think this will impact our chances of landing Adonis? It appears from his circle's comments of really liking how our coaching staff plays to our personnel strengths that we have a better thought than I was inclined to think before today...

Thanks,

Thomas will be making an official visit to UT next weekend for the Oregon game.

That's great. Didn't realize he was playing football also. Thomas announced he'll be at Memphis Madness on October 15. He'll be watching his four teammates off the NC Memphis Magic being adored by 18,000+ basketball fans.

I was waiting for this post. lol

Going to a Memphis football game would definitely show that they are no football school.

I'm sure the 18,000 will impress him more than 100,000. There probably won't be one basketball fan in the stadium on Saturday. Anyone whoever steps foot in Neyland must hate basketball.
