After Hart botches this coaching hire

Dave Hart just went up to the captain of the cheerleading squad and asked her to the prom. He offered her the limo ride and the best meal in town. He offered her the time of her life. If she says no, he has done all he could. Now he needs to make her regret that decision. .................. As far as we know, Hart hasn't screwed anything up. Lay this one at Gruden. He has to want the job, Hart can't force it on him. Sometimes our perspective is beyond words. Mr. Hart, please go get us the best coach you can that WANTS TO BE A VOL!
GBO!

Be careful, you said cheerleader. Cheerleader=Cindy Gruden. The morons will think you are speaking code and think Gruden is a done deal.

You have a lot more faith in Hart than I do. . Bottom line, he has allowed our fan base to be worked into a "frenzy" over the Gruden thing. Should have put it to rest a long time ago IMO

He allowed it? So you think the AD is supposed to issue a statement every time a MB moron looking for e-cred fabricates stories?

HC- Fulmer (he knows how to win in the sec and loves this school)
DC- Chavis ( All Vol - one of the best DCs in the country)
OC- Chaney ( Fulmer lets him keep his offense just run a little more and play a little more field position football
Bring in T Martin
Keep Jay Graham
Keep Sam Pittman
Let Chavis bring in new D assistants anywhere he wants
They would get it done.

There is too much BAMA blood round here

Firing a chancellor at a UNIVERSITY because of a sport... what has this country come to....

Is that worse than firing a UT President because of renovating his official residence?

A case could easily be made that someone needs to be fired for the one-sided contracts that UT made with Kiffin and with Dooley...and this goes beyond just the AD.

In both cases, the money spent was inappropriate. You don't have to do something illegal to get fired. Incompetence is a real good reason.

The same could be said when we gave Hamilton more than one million dollars, along with several other perks, after he resigned.

I don't believe that anyone has enough information on Hart to have faith or not. This is the first big hire that he has had to make.

I, personally, am glad that we are not all over the news getting turned down by every coach that we have supposedly interviewed like the most recent football and basketball coaching searches.

Let it all play out. Then formulate your opinions of the way Hart has handled all of this.

Hart has done NOTHING to put himself in a bad situation. It's not his fault that the fanbase of his employer doesn't have the first clue about what is actually going on in this coaching search. Our fans, God love em, built this expectation of Gruden or nobody all by themselves, and what's really sad is that they will beat down mercilessly whoever Hart hires simply because his name isn't Gruden.

I realize he doesn't have to tell anyone what he is doing and i agree but, that still doesn't mean NOT saying anything doesn't put him in a bad situation. He won't live this down. Not around here anyway.

All I am saying is a good AD should have known Dooley wasn't going to be retained after the Miss St game. He should have immediately been working on the next hire and it should not have taken a month to decide if Gruden was going to work out or not. It's not like he couldn't talk to him because he was coaching another team.

He has done nothing but give himself raises while the students' tuition has increased something like 3 of the past 4 years. I'm not saying that is a correlation, just immoral. I've personally never liked him. JMHO :hi:

What kills me is that this process is an entire 12 days ongoing and people think we should have hired someone 11 days ago or something. This is not easy and every canidate other than Gruden has been finishing off the season and some of the canidates are still finishing off there seasons in championship games. Give me a break this stuff takes time. This isn't Mike Hamilton's show anymore we arenot going to rush a hire and make the wrong one. Ever thought of that. Jon Gruden isn't the only good coach out there either. Take a step back and calm down, keep your mouths shut and let Hart hire the right guy.

My point exactly! If Hart knew if wasn't going to be Gruden, he should have come out weeks ago and announced he is not going to be hired. Then, all the fans wouldn't get their hopes up to be let down when it is someone besides Gruden. Think!!

Exactly! Everyone is mad at Hart because none of them have any clue what he's doing due to him keeping everyone out of the loop. When UT fans don't have information, they all try to act like they know someone so they are exalted on a message board if their BS ends up right.

And if Gruden, the diva, continued to show interest until this week. Then what?

Again, hopefully Hart has been working on this since the Miss St loss. Something important to remember is the recruiting "dead period" starts Dec. 16th. The longer it takes the less time the new coach has to contact recruits for this years signing class!

Why does Hart owe you a list of every coach he's NOT considering?

Point is when you have a month of luxury to find a coach and you end with a Al Golden that's not success. Al Golden is the bottom of the list type of coach IMO. He's a guy that you settle for when 10 other guys refuse to come here. Gruden may not want to come here, but please don't tell me Al Gordon is a great coaching prospect. I could see a Charlie Strong or a Larry Fedora. What I can't see is having the luxury of time and money at your disposal, and settling for a Al Gordon type hire. You want to hire someone who's never won anything special as a head coach hire Jack Del Rio. Least he has NFL experience that could draw recruits here, and he's a bright defensive mind.
