So if JG had this worth ethic the whole time, then perhaps he wasn't as beneficial to the program as most thought. Begs the question if he didn't just contribute to the downfall of the Dooley era.

This is just plain silly. Graham did a great job with our RBs last year. Dooley was his own downfall. Some former Vols would question the programs loyalty to them the past few years. Say what you want, but many didn't think too highly of Fulmer and Chavis getting fired THE WAY THEY DID....Not the firing itself, but the cheap disrespectful way it went down. Don't forget the Dooley/Chuck Smith fiasco, along with Dooley's treatment of former Vols. Not to mention Dooley basically shunning the idea of offering Tee the job when he was at UK. so it's a two way street. It's glaringly obvious we have rogue administration over there, there could be other issues that led to CJG leaving. This isnt the same football program he played for from head to toe.

Am I tuned into Ainge? Yeah, interesting to see what he says. But I'm gonna take what he says with a grain of salt too as I would advise others to do. Is Ainge more worried about ratings or informing fans? Ainge isn't always right either, sometimes he is. But he's shown that he tends to go overboard with his emotions at times, JMO. And regardless of whether he's right or wrong on why CJG left, I'm totally against Ainge going on air and smashing CJG. It's cheap, petty, and unprofessional. Again, JMO. But I'd be interested to see how other former Vols feel about Ainge smashing Graham on air.

The meltdown over the departure of a running back coach, the easiest position to fill on a staff, is beyond belief

Ordinarily, yes.

But this was a former player, a guy who, in the middle of the Dooley Debacle, actually improved his unit, and who, it seems, actually held our recruiting class together when Dooley quit recruiting. The current Big East staff is short on quality SEC recruiters, and they are now down one more.

Also, it has to be a reflection on the new coach and new staff as well.

I think one of the most important stories of this episode though is that the Cryptkeeper would not match $50K. Begging Booger for funds so you don't have to hire Gruden...

Hart needs a seat on a trebuchet aimed right at Alabama.

If the future of Tennessee football depended on jay graham, you're screwed anyway.

He left. Not a big deal.

Again, not the point. He's an alum, who relished at the opportunity to come back and coach. Sure, he is replaceable, just like any coach we have, but it's the fact that he's an alum and given all the lip service he provided while he was here, seemed like he was very happy and content at his alma mater. That's why people feel slighted, not because of the position he coached.

You are correct. I'm completely wrong on that one. Either way, cost of living is MUCH higher down there. Of course, he can get a house rather cheap down there right now.

Tallahassee cost of living is a bit higher than Knoxville but still below national average. 0 for 2?

I'm with you if jg made the comment about never leaving SC... something is wrong on the inside.. IMO... Jg knows how a winning program should feel like n for some reason he doesn't believe we r headed in the right direction or he doesn't like hart or new coach or would have stayed ..

Speculation. I don't think that is the reason. I think a lot of people were upset when Jay was unable to land any of our running back targets for the two years he was here. We need to recruit at least two RB of the caliber Jay was unable to get. Whatever. He i gone and we will get another RB coach. Maybe the new coach can get us the talent we need move up in the SEC.

From what Ainge is saying, Graham doesn't want to put in the work that Coach Jones is demanding. Ainge also pointed out that Rajon Neal is wearing a blue jersey currently which according to Coach Jones color schemes is bottom of the barrel.

This should serve as a wake-up call to everyone that it is a completely different environment with Jones and the he is going to be a very demanding coach and that he's not putting up with crap. This is a good thing.

Reminds me of J. Majors. I am sure the landscape has changed 180 degrees from how Dooley ran the ship. From what I have learned in the last three months, those changes needed to be made.

So Graham was just to scared and lazy to stay...according to AE

Just don't think he wanted to move at the pace Jones was setting for the staff. I don't think he is lazy or scared, just don't think Jay knew what to really expect, and don't think his beliefs meshed with what the staff's beliefs were. Really that simple.

He'll being paying much more out in the state of FL, mostly due to the state income tax there. He just wanted an easier place to recruit and coach, and just didn't mesh with this staff's blue collar attitude. Much more of a workman's mentality on this staff now, kinda like Kiffin, just with their shirts on and less glitter and flare.

Florida doesn't have a state income tax

I like Ainge, but I think Basilio's article on this is very informative.

Jay got a $50K raise; evidently the Cryptkeeper came back with some more money, but not equivalent (thanks Hart, Hambone, and Booger for everything you've done for Tennessee).

Moreover, Basilio talks about how important Graham was in holding the 2013 class together when Doolander and his staff, contrary to his TV rhetoric, quit recruiting.

Jay has handled this as professionally as possible. As Basilio says, the honeymoon for Butch is coming to an end.

I believe EA more than Basilio. From what I have seen, EA gather information and has a foot inside the program. Basilio shoots from the hip, often misses his target, and has little, if any, inside information. I trust EA's information; not so for Basilio.

LOL@ Ainge. I'm sure Steve Spurrier is pretty damn demanding...just going out on a limb here. And as far as I can see, Graham did bust his ass keeping the class together thru the coaching change. Again, Ainge is acting rather punkish IMO. Most on here like it because it fits how they feel towards CJG at this moment. Sh!t like this has to be real attractive for former Vols who could be in line to coach here in the future. Mess up and have former Vols bash you on the radio.

Former Vol players are basically a fraternity amongst each other. If he's got a problem with Graham he should hop in his ride and go see him face to face like a man.

LOL, Ainge just said he doesn't take this stuff personally. I can't tell. His actions are bush league at best.
