Ainge Injury (Merged)

1st serious action of his career + LSU defense = trouble. I am glad you Cromptonites are still around because you provide me with a laugh about every day. Crompton might be the next Manning before he is done, but Ainge is the better QB right now and even though Crompton is probably good physically right now he is not at the "LSU level" mentally or experience wise. I mean come on, look at Stafford at UGA. That kid is super talented physically. He is going to be a stud. But he has to catch up to the mental part of the game and his numbers have been ugly because of that.

Defendthishouse....prothro's broken ankle was much more severe than Ainge's sprain.

Secondly, I think the UT staff is doing the right thing, not just for privacy sake but also LSU has to prepare for Ainge and a little bit more mobile J. Crompton.

I think Ainge will be less than 100% no doubt, but he will play.

Considering our lack of the running game, I hope that Ainge is able to hang in there.

Think Crompton would do well in most situations. Would hate throw him into the fire. This results are more often bad then good.

Lets see how "Big Game Ainge" handles the pressure before we go with Crompton!

So if Crompton starts...do the vols stay with the throwing offense hoping our receivers can pull us through with yards after catches....or do they downshift to a power I rushing attack, challenging our offensive line/running backs to get physical?Thoughts?

My thought: If we have to depend on our running game, we're screwed. If Crompton were to play, he would have to pass the ball.

I've thought about it and I have just finished sobbing long enough to post. :cray: If we have to depend on our run game we are SCREWED.

You can't compare Crompton and Stafford. Stafford was popping zips in his high school locker mirror between classes at this point last year.

I think Crompton has prepared himself for the mental side of the game and is dying to get in there and do something. I hope EA is ready and can go the distance, but all hope is not lost with Crompton.

I guess if our running game stinks and we don't wanna change the offense this far down the road, Ainge/Crompton become the Dolphins of the Marino era and use the short pass as a running game.

I think this game will define Ainge, if he is healthy! We all know of his troubles last year and he wilted late against Fla. This maybe the best D he has faced and he won't get any help from the run game! Cut needs to come out in the shotgun. We need to get on them early and stay on em!

:good!:

"There's no doubts in my mind that I'm going to be ready to play on Saturday," Ainge said.
"It's a day-to-day type thing," Ainge said of the ankle. "I'm not worried if I miss a day of practice or two days of practice that I wouldn't be physically on my game. Most of my preparation game week is mental anyway. If anything, I can do more of that which could end up helping me out."

"You really don't have a choice," Ainge said. "This is LSU. We're 7-1 and we're playing LSU, that's the biggest game of the season. We don't have a choice but to get healthy and get out there."

we all agree that EA has improved beyond beleif but when you have an injury like his that he will fill everytime he takes a step, plantes his feet and throws the ball that's always going through your mind and we know how he can be when something is bothering him and is not 100% confident. he tends to overthink and try to force thing and bad decisions.

I'm trying my damndest not to be negative but the last two games he has had two or three series that he makes these throws that make you want to scratch your head and wonder wtf?!an ankle injury on top of that makes me a little uneasy goig against LSU D.:crossfingers:

As nervous as the coaches and Crompton looked with him in the South Carolina game, lets hope Ainge can go on Saturday.

When in doubt, think about all the times a supposedly injured QB has given us fits. Ainge will get it done because he owes LSU one after last year.
