Ainge said Gruden not coming

If that's true than we will have half empty stadium and will not be a contender for east after 3 SEC games. Mark it down.

So what coach could come in immediately with the same personal and be in contention for the East next year? I'm just saying that because even though all of you want to blame Dooley for everything this year it was one mistake that has haunted this team and that is the hiring of Sal and changing the scheme on D. Hiring a new coach isn't going to fix things right away I don't care who you are. Even Saban went 6-6 his first year and I don't think UT fans have that patience.

I totally get that we're 0-5. However, this offense has went toe to toe with the some of the best defenses in the SEC, excluding Bama. If they (defense) was able to make some stops the win loss record would be much different. I think that is what will be the argument for him to stay, as much as we might not like it.

Gruden is not and never was coming here. Just doesn't make sense for him money wise or lifestyle wise. He is an NFL guy and has a cushy job that he likes just talking NFL FB. Why would he take on head aches of a HC coach? You guys are in dreamland.

If Dooley is fired we will have to take our chances with another mid major "up and comer". He will come on the scene with hype and flash. Maybe we get lucky, but odds are in 3 years some will be parking moving vans on his front lawn. Let's get real guys.

I have had my problem with addictions myself. If I can't look back and crack a joke about it once in a while, then what's the point? Some of you people need to get off your high horse and stop pi$$ing and moaning about a little tasteless joke. Good grief, some of you are aweful sensitive!

Im glad you beat your addiction.. and i hope you stay the course... But still... Wrong time and wrong place.. good luck with the everyday battle.. wushing the best for you..

Brian Kelly did just fine with comparable team talent.

Hugh Freeze did well under worse talent.

O'Brian at Penn State had the worst situation did better.

I am very disappointed in some of you so call Vol fans. To call Ainge out shows you are not a true Vol Fan. So GTFO!!! Stand behind this team. Truth is most of you never never spend money supporting UT sports but yet come in here and say hire Gruden. And you guys are the same one who will be voting for Obama. Idiots all that needs the be said.
Nahhh we should root for Fooley and Vote for Romney so he can flip flop every other day.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. My post was more about the fact that Ainge has no idea about what Gruden will end up doing, than actually being a dig at Ainge's addiction. Most are probably right, wasn't well thought out and meant to have a little humor thrown in. Didn't really expect everyone to go off the deep end and get all bent out of shape over it.

I will continue to wear my orange T shirt every Saturday as I have for over 30 years.

I will continue to scream at the bar TVs as we continue to lose under Dooley.

I will continue to hang my head as the other team fans are feeling sorry for me, as my team is routed by a mediocre SEC team.

The Orange Sadist!

Looking forward to a positive future, near or far.

I just want to feel that orange pride again!

GBO.

He's also the last UT qb to beat Bama or Florida. Get a clue.

And that has what to do with him knowing whether or not a coaching candidate will land with the Vols??? Are people really this stupid??

He is a member of the media, plain and simple. He gets the same info as the rest of the lameass Knoxville media. He doesn't know anything more than Hubbs, Rucker, and dare I say, Hyams!! Who gives a crap who he beat 8 years ago? That has absolutely nothing to do with Vols Coaching Search 2012

No, they were the clowns that got dirt prices on tickets. The "true fans" do more than drop 40 bucks a year on a game and come on a board beating their damn chest about it.

Not true. Some of us have season tickets and use them EVERY GAME, EVERY YEAR. And many of us do not live in Knoxville and it requires a commitment on our part. You sir, are the clown.

Congrats! At some point, most of us will "wake up" and realize living that life is a dead end road. Unfortunately, it took me a little longer than most. 11 years clean.

O'Brian at Penn State had the worst situation did better.

Brian Kelly had better talent when he got to ND and it's easier to recruit at ND besides the academic standards. Ole Miss has lost to the good teams on their schedule and so has Penn State. Not really a good comparison to go by when none of those coaches besides O'Brian had a worse situation than what Dooley had to deal with when he came to UT. I'm just saying this because there isn't a coach out there who can come in and automatically produce a SEC championship season.

Seeing as how Ainge is a former player and make no doubts about it he DOES get inside information from several sources associated with the AD I'm sure he probably knows a little more than the rest of you.....Maybe not everything but I'll take his word over most.

The problem with Ainge's information is that it is in direct conflict with Bobby Scott and many others who have equal or better access. The odds are against Gruden, but I don't believe that Ainge, or anyone else for that matter, knows the ultimate truth. At least it is known that Gruden has commented he is interested in the job (at what price we don't know), has ties to this area, coached at Tennessee, etc. If the money is there, like it eventually was at Bama, he would come.

The odds are actually against any single person you can name, and even retaining Dooley is more likely at this point than any single replacement you can name.

You can't know what isn't known. Just ask Bama when they offered Saban and he turned them down. Then they offered RichRod and again no deal. Then they went back to Saban and offered the big money and he came.

For Ainge to claim with any certainty about something he can't possibly know is ridiculous at this point.

The deal isn't done until we have a new head coach or Dooley is still with us after the first of the year.

Not comparing talent Dooley's first year, but this year and even to some extent last year because I don't think any decent coach could have lost to that Ky team. If that had been Ky team back when Brooks was coach, I could see since he did pretty good for Ky standards. Brian Kelly was hired because coach(es) before him could not win.

Because its the truth he is not coming. DD will be HC at UT in 2013. We will have new DC. Mark it down

You realize a 30k loss in attendance on average loses the UTAD around 10 million right? The home schedule is a pretty rough sale next year and an impossible sale with Dooley back. It is more a financial loss to keep him than to bring him back.
