Police need the ability to respond with force but generally should not have the attitude of doing everything by force, or even most things. But it’s a super thin line and is easy for us to sit here and say when we aren’t ones making split second life or death decisions. It’s hard. I’ve worked in bad parts of Dallas and Fort Worth and it’s a whole different world compared to where I grew up. I can hardly blame trigger happy cops when they are more often than not justifiably scared . But I’m also no fan of abusive government either. I tend to think that we’re probably safer when our police have teeth even though that can have a pretty horrific downside. What happened a few days ago looks pretty bad unless there’s something I’m missing.
They way the cops job structured right now, they are set up to be like the plantation overseer or the jailhouse trusty or the kid the teacher assigns to write names on the board while she steps out the room... they're snitches too eager to do The Man's bidding. They just like f#^king with people over petty stuff.Yeah, no one wants those jobs now for sure. It’ll eventually come back around to being more desired but it’ll be a while.
Why don't they come up with a different way to deal with minor traffic stops? I have received two speeding tickets by mail. Why can't they do the same with expired tags or busted lights? Why the need for face to face confrontation over such minor issues? Another issue may be municipalities pushing cops to write more tickets to help with budgets which leads to more face to face confrontation.
The stop was for an expired tag. He ended up dead and the cop out of a job because of a mistake she made. There would had been other opportunities to pick him up for the warrant. If not for the stop for the expired tag he would still be alive and the cop still on the job. What’s minor about having an aggravated assault warrant and illegally possessing a gun?

In this case it seems to be negligence. She was yelling taser and immediately knew she made a mistake when she fired the weapon according to the body cam footage.No.
Is accidentally firing a gun when you mean to fire a taser execution of a death sentence, or is it simply negligence?
No one saying the family doesn't deserve compensation but it's not the equivalent of deliberately shooting a suspect in the back.
