Air fresheners are illegal in Minnesota

What is the “BCA” that keeps getting referenced?

And yeah her career as a LEO is over and I’d guess she’s going to jail also. Additionally there is gonna be a large wrongful death suit against the city. This was clearly not justified, even though she meant to use her TASER instead of sidearm. She simply cannot have that bad of a day, the cost of an error of that magnitude is too high.

He should not have fled. This discussion wouldn't be taking place had that simple task been followed, two people's lives would not have been ruined.

He did nothing that warranted shooting him. No he shouldn’t have fled. But that doesn’t excuse the HUMONGOUS error made by the officer in response.

Had the driver fled, could have led to more accidents and deaths.

The officers had no choice but to take action for something that could have been avoided.

Looks like both to me.

Clear justification of use of force of taser, clear felonies by the suspect, looks like a LACK OF TRAINING on handcuffing by the male officer.

Female officer panicked and pulled wrong weapon and DROPPED THE FIREARM after the shooting. Just like Oscar Grant situation.

Criminal was idiotic and caused the incident to escalate, other officer was too timid but did nothing legally wrong, it's negligence on the female officer's fault. Looks like civil matter more than anything and she will be fired and whomever signed off on that godawful training on BOTH of them!

TBF, the man who fled started the whole fiasco to begin with. If he hadn't fled, he would still be alive. However, this still was a substantial mistake by the female police officer.

Just a conglomeration of poor decisions and mistakes all around.

Oh BTW. Only one person’s life is ruined here. The other one’s is over.

People need to stop soft selling this huge cock up by the officer. I’m sure she feels absolutely horrible. I’m sure she didn’t mean to shoot him she just meant to TASE him. Irrelevant he’s dead as a result of her massive error. A poor choice on the victim’s part doesn’t let the officer off the hook for a much more massively poor choice.

Simply fleeing from police is not a reason to be shot and killed. Legally or morally. Not in this country. Unless you have committed a violent crime or are at risk to do so. They had all this kids information, if they felt is was too dangerous for a pursuit, they didn't have to.

Awful situation all the way around, for all parties involved. I feel for both the suspect that died and the officer that pulled the wrong weapon - she will have to live with that the rest of her life.

So TASE him then. Don’t shoot him FFS!

Both sides should be accounted for.

The woman officer most likely panicked and shot him due to adrenaline. The kid had an active warrant and didn’t listen to the officers’ order.

A combination of ignorance and bad training for that female officer caused this minor situation to turn into a huge country wide problem.

This has nothing to due with racism.

Well he did commit at least two violent crimes, one with a firearm previously.

And this officer clearly didnt MEAN to shoot him, which does not resolve her negligence in the situation. She will be fired and sued and should be.

Anyone who thinks this was done intently after watching that video (or that this officer was racist) is silly. It was a panicked female with lack of proper training who made a stupid and deadly decision

I will remind you of that when someone you love dies or is severely injured by someone fleeing the cops. He should never have fled

Was he really pulled over because of an air freshener on his rear view mirror? And three cops were needed for this?
