Kirby dubblin' down.UGA demands retraction from the AJC. Sounds like they are getting ready to crank up a libel suit.
Kirby Smart, Josh Brooks refute report of Georgia mishandling sexual assault allegations
One got nothing to do with the other fooWell Kirby learned from the best. Nobody can intimidate local police like Saban. In the end it won’t matter. They got those championships so I guess it all equals out for most UGA fans. A few rapes, some domestic violence, fatal car accidents. A small price to pay for those trophies.
Would UGA want to go through discovery?UGA demands retraction from the AJC. Sounds like they are getting ready to crank up a libel suit.

You wouldn't think they would, but maybe they feel like they have nothing to hide. Either way, it should be interesting. I was surprised by this aggressive posture, and not much surprises me.Understood but if they wanted to pursue this, all records would go through discovery and AJC would want to dispose half of athletic department including smart.
I cannot believe that UGA wants that.
Problem solve at UGA, fire the reporter who reported the issues.
Pretty much the whole paper is full of made up stuff. This really is an extraordinary step for the AJC to take, he must have made some crap up. Apparently, this Alan Judd (the reporter) had been fired about 20 years ago from a paper in Louisville for making stuff up. I hate it, because it gives UGA a huge PR win, but when I saw that retraction demand letter from them I figured UGA must be pretty darn confident the facts were in their favor because that was hyper-aggressive.
Looks to me like they were scared of getting sued for libel. In Georgia you have to give the defendant 7 days to retract or correct as a precursor to filing suit and today was the 7th day and the AJC blinked which tells me they thought they had exposure for libel. I'm just speaking as somebody who has practiced law in Georgia for about 20 years, they f-ed up, and it's a shame, it gives Kirby Smart a big win in what looked like a big loss at first. Here is the exact things that got the author of the article fired
1. He combined two sentences of a quote together in a way that did not change the meaning.
2. The AJC could not confirm the exact number (11) of assault allegations against women. They could confirm some but not the specific number.
Let's not kid ourselves, this was UGA threatening to withhold access to the program unless something was done....
