You think recruits are going to buy into a coach whose team gets embarrassed on every nationally televised game they play this year? Because that's what's going to happen this year. Outside of Vandy and Kentucky they won't even be in contention of winning any significant games, and if they can't get some studs in this class next year won't be any different, and I'm not talking about guys that will be decent players in 1-2 years. We need guys that can come on right away and help us win ball games. Because if they don't start winning soon no one other than instate fans will want to play there because Georgia is about to be where Clemson is. Florida is about to be a lot better, so will Miami, Ole Miss, FSU, Virginia Tech, and Texas A&M. Basically all of our recruiting areas are about to start being raided
And why would an elite recruit want to play for a team that hasn't been to a conference title game in 11 years and hasn't won one in 20? Don't say playing time either because the elite ones will find their way on the field anywhere
Problem is that elite recruits will play anywhere. This pitch only works with good players (still good pickups) but the high 4 and 5 stars aren’t worried about playing time. Not trying to be negative I think we will get our share of guys this year and just need to win next year and be top 5 or so in recruiting next yearThere's literally no position on the field that an elite recruit couldn't see himself coming in and playing right away.

Not entirely true. Some of those high 4 and 5 star players want to be Day One starters and not sit the bench behind other highly recruited players, which is what happens when they choose someone like Bama or Georgia. Some feel they have the ability to make a team a contender. And part of it may rest on whether Pruitt and staff can convince them they can be that difference.
And that's not taking into account the doom and gloom perspective is coming into play after ONE game. West Virginia obviously deserved their ranking, and Grier absolutely deserves his hype. If we improve game to game this season, recruits will see that, and it will pique the interest of some.
Florida and South Carolina actually have solid defenses and play a physical brand of football. We just had a 7 on 7 team impose their will on us at every aspect of the game play after play after play. Florida and South Carolina will do much worseStep off the ledge. Loosing like we did sucks but I think we greatly underestimated how good West Virginia is. You think Florida, South Carolina and Missouri is better or on the same level they are? Because I don’t.

Check out my response earlier bud. I think we can still land good recruits, even a few elite ones. I’m not wrong though, truly elite recruits want to win, they expect to play anywhere. You’re wrong
I agree but the problem is nothing yesterday indicated that we're anywhere close to being on the come up, and it's not going to get any better as the season goes on. We just got mamhandled by probably the least physical team in the top 25. Image what Florida, Georgia, Bama, Diet USC, and Auburn will do. I know we don't have the guys to compete with them right now, and we probably won't be able to next year either, and at most we're competing for 3rd place in the east in 2020, and at that point how much longer can you sell recruits on bringing the program back when you're on your 3rd class and you still aren't anywhere near being competitive in your division. Do you not remember how bad that 2009 team was that Kiffin took to Tuscaloosa and nearly left with a win? Sure it was the middle of the season, but that Tennessee team was far worse than the one now even if we had Berry, and that Alabama team was far better than West Virginia. I was very high an Pruitt after I heard what he had to say and what others had to say about him, but after seeing how undisciplined and soft we were yesterday not to mention how much we were outcoached it's hard for me to believe that he's going to be able to make the team competitive again. We seemed extremely unprepared in nearly every aspect of the game which is a major problem considering we had film on them and they had none on us. Can you imagine how bad it would've been had we played them in week 2 and they had film on us? Recruits are making their decisions about Tennessee based on the fact we have a new coach that's going to make important changes to the program, but there has to be results if he wants to keep pulling big time guys. That's one of the issues we ran into with Butch. He was able to get a lot of studs his first couple years because they saw an opportunity to play often and early and turn a dying program -that used to be elite- around. After those 2-3 years though everyone realized it wasn't going to work and stopped buying in. I know it's 1 game and it's still very early for him, but first impressions are extremely important and his first impression was horrible. I don't care what anyone has to say about yesterday either. The only plus to that game were the 2 scoring drives and having the balls to go for it on 4th and goal. Everything else was pitiful and embarrassing to watchCalm down Cody. I feel you buddy. This is frustrating. Having said that, recruiting is based on 2 major things. 1. Those on top. 2. Those on the come up. We are recruiting at #2. Players understand that. Pruitt is honest and has a knack for attracting tough kids that will match his personality. The stench of Jones will take about half this season to get rid of and another 2 years to build. As a fan base, it’s time for us to understand where we’re at and enjoy the upsets we delivery until we have the talent to compete.
Lol. That’s not evidence. That’s a statement.Check out my response earlier bud. I think we can still land good recruits, even a few elite ones. I’m not wrong though, truly elite recruits want to win, they expect to play anywhere.
I like evidence. Here is your evidence: the vast majority of elite recruits sign with national championship winning (or contending) coaches.
