Heup will clip UGA at Neyland either this year or in near future. And we won’t have equal talent bc we won’t have pulled 10 straight top 3 classes or whatever.

10 straight means nothing, just what you've recruited the last 2-4 yrs is all that matters. We are proof that teams don't need 4 or 5 yrs to dig themselves out of a hole. With the transfer portal and more athletes now than there's ever been. Very few teams are going to have the 1-85 talent like Ala, Ga and Ohio St have because those are the top 3 most damn years. But 4-10 there's really not much gap in talent and even closer now because of the portal. If we finish top 10 every year that would give us the talent to play with and beat GA with how our offense is. Obviously taking the next step involves improving our Defense and secondary especially. Ala had more talent as did LSU last year and we beat them both. GA was a bad match-up for us in GA or in Knoxville. GA had lockdown corners and a secondary that could run with our Receiver's. Hooker did miss a few open guys but them being open was few and far between. Then Bennett threw anywhere and everywhere he wanted on us.

Wouldn’t you want to get the hell out of Alabama too

I'm from Knoxville but live in Shelby County in Alabama now. I absolutely prefer Knoxville to anywhere in Ala, but Ala isn't anywhere near as bad as some portray. Most have never even been to even know. Tuscaloosa is a $hit hole and trailer park alley, but just like every state, there's great places to live in Alabama and $hitty ones. Hell Shelby County has more Vol fans than I've seen outside of TN. You just have to learn to live with the Bammers and Auburn. Honestly there's some Vol fans that are every damn bit ias gnorant and annoying as most Ala fans. Point is Knoxville is God's country and will always be my home, but there's other great places outside of the state as well, including Ala. I love where I am, has a small town feel, great schools, very safe and I'm 4 hrs from Knoxville, 5 from Gatlinburg, 4 -4.5 from Orange Beach and Destin, 2 hrs from Atlanta and 3 from Mississippi if I wanna hit the casinos.

Sounds awful. Don’t give a damn about the whole state.

How can you say that? Especially given what he has in defense? As long as Smart is at UGA, he is gonna have at worst the #3 ranked class every year. And he always gets studs on defense and not only that he and his staff can develop defensive players as well as we do offensive players.
Because Heupel is a better coach especially on gameday. There's also the matter of discipline. UT has been pretty quiet. Smart's guys remind me of Fulmer's during his decline. Lack of discipline within the program will have an impact on the field at some point.

And again, you give WAY too much credence to the journalists who take their cues largely from who Smart recruits. Saying Smart's class will be top 3 is a self fulfilling prophecy. He is signing very good talent... but they also get a bump simply because he makes them a priority. If Heupel keeps proving he can find talent and have it show out on the field then he'll get more credibility.

But considering the rankings... Heupel has already shown he can do more with less. According to 247's composite which does have some merit since it partially averages out the errors made in rating individual players, Heupel's Vols had the 19th most talent in the country last year. He beat... #1, #5, #8, and #14. He lost on the road vs the eventual national champion UGA in a sloppy game. I don't have the faith in those rankings that you do... but especially you would have to give Heupel a ton of credit for doing that. Saban is widely regarded as one of the top coaches of all time. The media you seem to trust so much think Kelly is great. Dabo has some NC rings. And UF... has just been hard for UT to beat regardless of who had the better team.

Heupel could eventually fail because he's not getting enough talent. But if UGA is a legit 1-3 and UT is a legit 10ish... then Heupel will do just fine with Kirby.

Hahaha noooooo

So I just got done watching his film.

He has a great first step, seems to use his hands well.

Obviously he’ll probably have to put on 20 pounds to play at this level but looks to be a very coachable dude.

RG should turn him into a star.

He has incredible speed for a big guy. I will say, he will benefit from having RG as a coach. He seemed to get pushed around some by o-linemen. Have to be better about setting the edge on running downs. Could be a Leonard little type player though, tons of potential.
