I think it's a solid hire. Was only a matter of time before he landed at a big program.

What does his wife look like? Anybody? And they said he'd never leave Tampa, I mean Temple.

JMO, IMO, JMHO this is a better hire than Muschamp. he is really respected. Interested to see the staff he puts together.

If, and this is a big if, I had to root for another team, itd be Miami. I hate em when we play em, but besides that I like em.

im still kinda iffy....i need comfort guys...and ladies :)

While at Temple:
0-12 vs winning MAC teams, 4-27 vs. bowl eligible teams.

While having the largest salary, budget, and some of the best recruiting classes.

His knock has been not being able to win the big game.

Gotta give credit for turning Temple around though.

I mean, temple was such a wreck though. At least they beat bad teams.

Great hire. Will have the U back to winning conference championships as well as being a respectable program.

I actually think this guy is a pretty good coach. Kind of a Dooley type hire. The kind of guy that will make you admit that he could be great...just not the sexy-pick.

The 41-year-old owns a 27-34 career record, which includes a 9-4 mark in 2009, and an 8-4 mark in 2010. He was able to lead the Owls to two winning seasons, which is exactly half of their all-time total since the inception of football at the Philadelphia-based school in 1894.

As a Temple alum, let me assure you what a great hire he is. Temple was a total mess of epic proportions when he took over. Terrible. Horrible. Awful. What he did was nothing short of amazing. And while, yes, he is known as a defensive coach, his teams also put up points and played very disciplined football.

To argue the facilities at Temple are highly regarded is laughable. They play at the Linc sure, but that is hardly a selling point to recruits. Their football field is practically underneath a railroad trestle in a dangerous part of a very dangerous city.

He will do great at Miami, especially since the ACC is what it is.

I know he's done great things at Temple, and I'm sure he's a great little coach, but give me a break. You don't fire your coach unless you can bring in a BETTER option. Is Golden a better option than Randy Shannon? No. Tommy T? Yes. Golden? No.
